    Trade target discussion (merged thread)

I was impressed with Luke's honesty in that interview. He said straight out that they "butchered" the ball this year and needed to spend the off season on skills training. Hallelujah to that!

We have a forwards coach, a midfield coach, a ruck coach - what we need is a kicking coach.

Actually looking at the Swans' website most of those terms aren't used - the coaches are simply designated "senior assistant", "assistant", "development" (but Taubert still titled "Ruck Coach").

But "Ben Moore, Skill Acquisition" is listed as part of the coaching team. Who is he and what does he do?

Our pressure game puts a lot of pressure on our own players.

I have seen Joey hack the ball forward with no man within 5 metres of him our McVeigh missing his man by 10 metres. Why?

Pressure is created by your environment. Real or perceived.

Watts could/should be a very cheap gamble.

Couldn't agree more - had we a fit Buddy we would have beaten Freo and be in our fourth Prelim in a row with Jack and Parker back - we would have been 50/50 top beat the Hawks.

A couple of decent trades will help address some squal balance issues - an additional defender and ruckman please.

I expect Mills to play first team footy next year and be a success. Heeney, Jones, Towers and Harry are four players I can see improving massively.

A lot will depend of Buddy but I see no reason why we can't be contenders again

Can't see him being that cheap.

Could you see the Dees trading him for Bird, Robbo and our second round pick?

Might be a valuable recruit. With Shaw and Jetta gone we could be short on whipping boys.

There was talk of Watts being delisted (unlikely). I think they would like to move him on so that they arent always reminded about wasting a no.1 pick. I suspect they would entertain a 3rd rounder.

Spot on! All this doom and gloom, but realistically in Mills we're going to add another gun young midfielder who ranks well above what our ladder position would normally allow us to draft. We're going to get another pre-season under the belts of Cunningham, Heeney, Jones, BJ, Nankervis, Rose, Lloyd, Mitchell, etc. Plus now that we have the capacity to trade (albeit low $$ trades) we are guaranteed to bring in one reasonable player, plus recycle a few others - and we've got a great record when it comes to recycling. We've got Tippett who was phenomenal in the last 8 weeks of the season, plus we could well have Franklin lining up again in round 1.

It's a great time to be a Swans fan!

As well as Heeney, Towers, Jones and Harry having big years next year, Sam Reid and Rohan, if only we can keep them on the park, should be getting closer to showing us their star-potential qualities!

Does Watts show any more than say Abe Davis potentially? Have you read Michael Talia's resume? Apart from his size he doesn't seem to offer any more than those already on our list. If we see a future for Xavier or Aliir we need to give them opportunities next year. To bring in Talia means he will have to have more to offer than those two. We really need a ready replacement for Mal/Shaw, someone more like a Yarran or Bennell but there are not many on offer!

A lot of people on here saying we need to get Yarran or Bennell. Yarran is one of the most inconsistent players least motivated players and will be worse than Jetts, with Bennell we don't really his baggage and wrong media attention around the club for four seasons in a row.

That's the whole point...If he was playing consistently, to his ability, he would be an elite HB and wouldn't be on the trade table.

The Swans have trade restrictions, and looking for under achieving, underpriced, trades is an option they have.

The Swans have turned plenty of average players into good ones, and I'd back us to do it again.

We need a ruckman, maybe another tall defender.... And we need a half back with elite field kicking, to combat pressing defences.

IMO Yarran could be that player. He's been at a crap team, with a revolving door of coaches and an ordinary culture.

I reckon he's got plenty of upside if put in the right enviroment.

Yarran is a downhill skier, and not suited to the day to day grind of being in our backline. Jack Watts has all the makings of a good player,
and how he hasn't turned into a blubbering mess considering the sheer mass of criticism he's got since someone else made him a #1 draft pick
is beyond me. He just needs to be anywhere but Melbourne. Look at Laidler, couldn't get a regular game at Carlton, now look at him!

The blues have been a decent team we only played them in 2013 semi a couple of years ago they've had two bad years. If Yarran could apply himself like Shaw and play 150 games given he's only 24 then that would be great, but we already have Gary and Reid who are inconsistent and can't stay on the park adding Yarran would make three of 22 players. We should have a close look at Paul Seedsman from collingwood kid is a talent

Michael Talia we need to get, being a free agent; his stats are Height:194 cm Weight:94 kg. This will mean we can replace Teddie ASAP.

Also we need to trade to the Gold Coast for Smith and Bennell at whatever price, included any first round picks.

Love Pike, but he is shot, and although Smith is not the best going around, he is mobile and can do the job. His stats are Height:205 cm Weight:100 kg

                                Bennell is talent, and talent is what we need, not more average players like Towers; stats Height:185 cm Weight:74 kg;
I don't think we know what we are talking about re Towers.........his improvement the last few games show what the swans see in him.......he has only played 17 games of Snr AFL..........that is tiny AFL experience for us to judge...... yet we have now seen improvement, a decent contribution ..... and maybe the Swans in all their Wisdom are right in their vision for Dean
