By way of contrast, the Rugby League GF is happening today in Queensland.
The NRL GF is on tonight at ANZ stadium in Homebush.

I think you will find they are playing at Barry's stadium in NSW.
Agree that interstate teams should get a minimum number of games at the G, pretty ridiculous that the Weagles only got one game there during the regular season.

Thanks Erica - I don't know how that happened! Now corrected.

Initially yes, but it probably should happen sometime in the future when the current expansion teams are properly established.

Which stadium in Auatralia, apart from the MCG, holds 100K? If, as someone else suggested, a GF was held at the SCG, it would hold about 50K. That's half the revenue in ticket sales. Half the number of members of participating teams who would be able to attend.

Just to clarify, the suburb named Homebush is nowhere near ANZ stadium. Homebush the suburb is on the southern side of Parramatta road and has its own train station. The stadium is in a suburb/precinct called Sydney Olympic Park. And Homebush Bay is a body of water adjacent to a suburb called Wentworth Point. The constant references to the 'Homebush' stadium by all and sundry drives me nuts.
Patterns emerge, but do they mean anything? No.

Maybe it does, but that's what we locals in GWS call it.

I thinks theres still 14 years? left on the current contract. By the time it finishes SCG development will be complete to hold 60,000 and perth is building a stadium with similar capacity.

Their was not any booing towards WC that I could hear only the usual remarks and outcries at a game, however Hawks fans were still aggressive and believing they were getting a raw deal from the umpires. They are very aggressive cocky fans.
I posted the same thing on the other thread so looks like l had the same experience as you. There was also a Hawks supporter that made the same comment about Goodes and the empty car. The Hawks supporters really do hate us. I wonder who they will direct their hatred to now that Goodes has retired?

Being at the ground and waiting for the game to start I was jealous and wanted us to be out there. But the way the game turned out I'm glad we didn't have to go through that again!

Today I was depressed after seeing the Hawks win yet again so I watched the 2012 Grand Final DVD. It made me feel a little better.

Yep my thoughts exactly, so glad we didn't limp in to the G F this year, still think we could beat them with our full team.

The biggest sporting event each year is the super bowl the last three years the crowds have been 70,000, 80,000, and 70,000 its not always about numbers its about the spectacle. Queensland and Victoria have population of 12 million get more people playing the game more people will come to "the big dance" then just expand the stadium to 100k if it means anything..

There's no way in hell they would go from a 100k capacity to a 60k. Not. A. Chance.

Nice back and forth, i don't think we'll ever agree. I don't want the GF to be moved completely away from the MCG but with afl played in 5 states (Tasmania will never get a Team) but in a 8 years period at least have four played interstate and four at the MCG, every second year is a different state. The game has to grow nationally Victoria alone can't sustain it forever.
