I'm loving all these conspiracy theories. How about the club didn't rate him at pick 25? Otherwise we should have bid matched and traded him back to Melbourne in 2 years for something better.Comment

And given his apparent desire to be based in Melbourne, would of been a high risk to leave after his initial contract.
Good call by the Swans IMO.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

I reckon the delay in not matching was because a phone call was made to the Dunkley household to see if Josh wanted us to match.
We would have had a definite pick number in mind days ago, pick 25 or earlier no match, pick 26 or later we match. We already knew the numbers involved as Mills was almost certain to be bid on by Roos.
Can be the only reason why we took so long to decide no match. Fascinating now to see how Dunkley develops.Comment

Jordan Dawson (189 cm, 85 kg, Sturt)
I?m a massive fan of Jordan Dawson, who had a really unfortunate championships suffering from concussion and a back injury. He?s a really versatile third tall forward who can play up the ground and potentially in defence too. When forward he finds space and makes things happen, and up the ground he?s a really solid link up player. He just finds space to help transition with such ease. He?s working on an inside game; but I really like what I see from him.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Well, wasn't that a heap of analysis for nothing
We got what we wanted and that was Callum Mills who is rated as scary scary good.
Re Dunks, I suspect we had an agreement that we'd match an inter-state bid (e.g. WCE) but that we'd let him go to a Melbourne club. I also suspect we may not really rate him that highly either.
The two other draftees are clearly smokies.
GWS got four academy players for their zero investment in NSW grass roots football. I reckon they got lucky with what Hopper and Kennedy were bid at but Himmelberg went pretty early. In the final washup it's not scandalous.
I feel Paul Roos bid with integrity by following up his matched bid for Mills with a mid and by not bidding for Kennedy but then selecting a KPF in Weideman so I have no issues there.
Doggies have done well with getting Collins in the mid 20s so it does re-enforce the principles of Draft 101 that only the very elite KPDs will go first round.
Carlton with Weitering, McKay and Curnow have done well and the Dees will really be sweating on their two first rounders being good uns given they have traded their first rounder for next year.Comment
