I will be furious if we get a Thursday night home final - gives out of towners basically no ability to easily get to the game, without having to take Friday off from work. For me, a Thursday night final will more than likely rule out being able to go - as I just can't easily get time off from work on such short notice.

Thursday night games should be confined to regular season only in my book.

The AFL are really keen on a Crows Thursday night home final, and I'd guess if that isn't gonna happen they'll look to us as second choice. If that's the case it'll greatly increase the chances of it being at the SCG and not Homebush.

AFL has been dropping enough hints to let us assume that a Thursday night final in week 1 is pretty assured. It makes sense that Sydney (either Swans or Giants hosting) would be an ideal location for TV networks to optimise viewer numbers. Adelaide would be the other option. Sellout crowds create a local buzz that drives extra locals to the Teev and then you have the rest of the football world tuning in - not to mention stealing limelight off other sports with a four day carmival.

Thursday night at Homebush would be lucky to draw 20,000 and would be embarrassing for the sport. The colour and noise of a finals-fevered Thursday night at a full SCG would have a huge national audience glued to their TV screens.

I reckon you can bank on a Thursday night game at the SCG in week 1 (assuming we finish 1 or 2).

Anz memberships and boxes are sold on being the premium sydney events. Bledisloe, SOO, european soccer, NRL finals... and AFL finals. Thats why they gave up the 3 H&A ames so easily.

I don't mind the swans using the SCG for finals, but if their is a sydney derby final it should be at ANZ.

It is just me, or do the Category 1 granny tickets seem cheaper this year?

"Entry-level and top-category Grand Final tickets will remain at 2015 prices but all other adult tickets will increase by $5-$25."

                Also:

"ENTRY-level tickets for the first two weeks of finals will be the cheapest they've been since 2001."

So good news and bad news - depending where you sit/stand.

It's sounding a lot more positive that the SCG will be our finals venue.

The stumbling block appears to be the number of @tickets ANZ Stadium are asking for as compensation for their members.

Sources claim ANZ Stadium management want 5000 seats to each of the possible two AFL finals if they are played at the SCG this year.
                    ... and our 55+K members.
Going to be really hard to get a ticket.
It'll be one membership, one ticket... if that.

Fairfax suggests ANZ want more thsn 5,000 seats: Sydney Swans v GWS Giants AFL finals derby at ANZ Stadium still on the agenda.

I really doubt there are more than 5,000 ANZ members who are not Swans members who would attend a final at the SCG.

Just heard Gill the Dill on 774 ABC in Melbourne with Red and Gerard Whateley. He side-stepped a question about finals at the SCG: "It was a deal done 15 years ago. The Swans were signatories".

Gerard basically told him that he just has to make sure the deal gets done because finals at ANZ would be unacceptable and a dud while finals at the SCG will be spectacular. Something along those lines

The are more like 10,000 anz members and they have all paid a premium to watch the premium events in sydney.
