I have nothing to go on just a feeling that the club have lost patience with him already. I hope he gets another chance. His grandfather and great grandfather both played for Footscray and his brother is proving to be a very good defender. At 23 Michael hasn't achieved much. I wonder if the pressure to succeed might be an issue?

Why would you think he would be traded or delisted? He only played one game so didn't get much chance to show us what he's made of and yes he did a pretty dumb thing and got caught out, but he faced his punishment. I'd hate to think this club is so thin skinned that he would be delisted because of one stupid indiscretion.
And why would there be any news on him? He was injured all year and was never a chance to play finals, so what would anybody reasonably expect to be written about him?Comment

Would keep Robinson. Thought he was really good before injury - especially in that forward lock down role. Different role to Foote. He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

I just watched the Under 18s All Star game played last Friday. There's a lot of good talent this year. Some of the top end are really sharp. Hugh McCluggage deserves to go number 1 unless the Giants can trade for pick 1, in which case they will probably take McGrath. I can't see how we can get into the top 10 unless Carlton are willing to part with pick 5 for Tom Mitchell.
I would trade one of our ruckmen and try to get Tony Olango. He will take a few years to develop, but I was impressed with his athleticism. He looks the kind of ruckmen of the future (sort of a bigger version of Aliir). I think he will be available in the 40s and may even slip to the rookie draft, although I doubt he will last to our pick 17 in the RD.
I we could get Hawthorn's picks 14 and 32 for Mitchell, I would take it. It's the equivalent of a pick 7 and that seems fair to me.
We could end up with something like picks 14, 17, 20, 21 and 32 which should land us quick a lot of talent for the future. Plus we will draft Jake Brown, who I think will be a good prospect.
If available at our first pick, I wouldn't mind taking key forward Josh Battle. He will likely go in the 14-17 range, so getting pick 14 could be useful. Shai Bolton is a real livewire and is not afraid to contest the ball, but I do worry about the West Australians and the go home factor. But there are lots of talented WAs this year and the Perth teams won't have many picks in the top part of the draft.
If we are interested in KPPs, there should be a fair number of prospects up to pick 40 and perhaps beyond. I wish there was some news about Michael Talia. I hope he's recovered from his injury and all is forgiven for his indiscretion, because I think he has some talent and can hold down a spot in our defense long term.
I hope Ben Davis slips through the ND so we can take him as a rookie. He looked really good in the game.
Would be happy if we draft any of these players.

There is no way we will trade Tippett. AA ruck man before he got hurt and played the finals with a busted jaw. Talk of trading him for pick 21 and then in the same breath saying Nankervis is worth 27 is puzzling. Like comparing a Cox Plate runner with a draft horse. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

There also looks to be plenty of talent well into the 3rd round. I wouldn't mind unloading our dead wood and get into this draft. The Giants and Gold Coast will determine so much of what happens in the draft with loads of picks in the top 30. The Giants however will likely be using a fair few to draft their many talented academy players. GC are interesting with 4 picks in the 20s plus pick 40, which has some good value this year, and will add to this with compensation for O'Meara and Prestia.

I am now favouring trying to trade Tippett to Gold Coast, perhaps for their pick 21, or even better their picks 27 and 40. Other possibilities are Sinclair back to one of the Perth teams for around a pick 30 or Toby to Richmond for their compo pick for Vickery, should he leave, which will probably be around pick 25.
McGlynn is definitely gone. I don't know if he is tradable, but Brisbane may be interested if packaged with Towers, who should definitely be traded. I would also look to trade Brandon Jack. I think the Queensland teams may be interested in these guys and they have multiple draft picks in the 20s. I would have Dan Robinson up for trade as well. It know we just gave him a new contract, but I think he will find it hard to break into the side. Foote has already gone past him IMO. I would hold onto Cunningham and Laidler as depth players. Harry should still have some development left in him.

I think we'll be much more incremental and largely grow the list from within. Listening now to Jake Niall on OTC seems to confirm that and that we won't be huge players in the market
With a bit of luck we'll be able to get Pick 17 and perhaps pick 21 from the Lions (Towers upgrade). We may well get the Hawks' picks 14 and 32 if Gold Coast look to not throwing all their eggs in one draft basket. And whatever we get for Nanka will probably get us Olango if we rate him.
If we get picks 14, 17, 21 and 32 plus Brown then we should be able to get some good talent through. But then we also need to upgrade at least 2 players so that means seven de-listings or retirements - Ted, Jack, TomD, TomM and Towers is all I come up with, unless we get rid of BJ and Robbo, so on the face of it I think we'll be getting at least one future pick as part of any Tom M dealComment

Tippo is an interesting one at 900k per year he is a great player but not worth 900k as a ruckman (I dont think he was anywhere near AA form), if we can trade him - make a brave decision for the club trade Tippo and keep Nanka. This would allow the salary cap space to make the tweaks we need to step up another level and maybe keep Mitchell.
cheers

Just wondering where is everyone getting 900k from? I've heard others saying he had a front ended contract and was on something like 5-600k nowComment

The Mitchell dilemma can be easily solved - Nine year deal back ended when Buddy finishes. But then again, we can't have everybody! Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

We just played in a GF with a few players missing or underdone and a heap of first year players. So much upside on this list.
We won't do anything much in trade week unless Mitchell goes but I think he will re-sign. Still can't see how Mitchell gets to Hawthorn, they have next to no trade currency for O'Meara let alone Mitchell as well.
Please note for future posts, BJ is contracted for next year so would have to be traded out, we can't delist.Comment

The clear key for us is to improve our 'bottom six' - the old adage in that is where you win or lose a grand final was evident on Saturday.
Some improvement hopefully will come from the return of a couple of players (Aliir and Reid) and maybe a surprise packet or two (Newman looks the most obvious), some will come hopefully from natural improvement from players like Papley and Hewett, and maybe there might be 1 or 2 changes to the 22 through trading or drafting. I can't see us being heavily active in the trade window, rather more so at consolidating what we have, and maybe looking for a decent recycled player or two if they fit our plans on decent coin."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment
