Why would any star player begin contract negotiations before the CBA is done if they have a contract for 2017? There's no point working in the dark when you know if you wait a little longer the lights will go on.
Why would Heeney talks have kicked off for 2018+ when were are still in 2016? Be a heap of other guns in the same boat. FFS, haven't they got anything better to write about? Silly season indeed.

This is actually the week they don't really have much to write about.
But don't forget that managers like to get their players' name in the papers. They all have agendas...not least to get themselves as being seen to be doing something.
Heens is contracted to the end of 2017.
By the end of 2017, we'll have a few retirements, get rid of a bit of dead wood, get a pay rise from the AFL, and STILL have plenty of room to offer him a decent contract.
I can't see Heens going anywhere.
As for the article about the fight (because there's no name and shame, there's no credibility)... I was there on Saturday night.
The players were down, but it certainly didn't feel like there were heated words or punches thrown.
If there were, they were doing a great job of hiding it.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun. Blessedare the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.
