Even without being a FA he'd have no trade value whatsoever
Not saying he won't get picked by another team, but holding on to a player in the hope of getting a 3rd or 4th round pick is completely pointlessComment

Hun has McKenzie listed as trade bait:
No Cookies | Herald Sun
With Nic Nat out for next year, West Coast needs a ruckman....
So, let's trade Sinclair for Mackenzie!Comment

... unless you need academy points?
I would not mind that and mean Nankervis will have less reason to look else where. Then again are we forgetting how well Sinclair played five months ago. At the time he looked to be a good pick up with plenty of upside."Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." Beerman 18-07-2017Comment

I would take that too. As much as I suits us to have four quality rucks, as we now do, the reality is that #4 will be getting itchy feet if he has any ambition so the #4 ruck is usually a journeyman type (Currie or that spud at GWS) or a young prospect.Comment

If we trade a ruck Sinclair is the one I'd be happiest losing.
He was good early in the season but he depends on TippettChillin' with the strange QuarksComment

It's not the worst idea but I'd be astounded if we gave a bloke a 3 year contract at good money, moved him halfway across the country, then offered him up for trade the next season.
I'm sure we'd like to keep all 4 on the list, but the reality is that we'll probably lose Nankervis who is uncontracted and will probably be able to get more game time and opportunity elsewhereComment

Will be interesting to see if we upgrade Harry Marsh - after playing in two winning finals it would seem harsh when we have upgraded Newman. I guess we could make him a second year rookie assured that he'd be upgraded under the LTIL for AJ immediately thereby allowing him effectively a one year deal on full rates.
If we assume we'll lose seven players in TomD, TomM, Ted, Jack, Towers, Ben and Nanka (unfortunately) then we could afford three upgrades (Paps, Marsh and Newman) with three draftees (One mid, one KPD and a young ruckman) and one experienced player (as is our custom each year).
But I do think we'll be keen to draft Jake Brown, preferably as a rookie so I guess if we have to take Brown with a draft pick then we may well not upgrade Marsh.
Assuming we let Galloway leave then that will mean we can draft four new rookies - Brown will be one if he doesn't get picked in the main draft and Liam Maze could be worth a tilt. Not sure any of the NDS boys this year really demanded a rookie.
Out of interest, do we get priority to the academy boys in the rookie draft?Comment

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

I'm not so sure that Benny will be let go after he's done so well in recent games. I think it would be good move to let Sinclair go in a trade, but it's been reported that Nanka might leave instead. You would think that we would want to keep him. And Tom Mitchell is no certainty to leave. I think we will and should ask for some solid compo if he does. I figure we will lose 6 seniors and we may not replace Galloway, just reduce our list by one. Melican would also be in doubt. Will be interesting to see if we upgrade Harry Marsh - after playing in two winning finals it would seem harsh when we have upgraded Newman. BTY, I think if an academy players doesn't get drafted in the ND, then he can automatically be prelisted by us as a rookie and taken at the end of the rookie draft.Comment

Has Brandon got one year left? I would imagine Benny has earned himself another year too but will be interesting to see what we do thereIf we assume we'll lose seven players in TomD, TomM, Ted, Jack, Towers, Ben and Nanka (unfortunately) then we could afford three upgrades (Paps, Marsh and Newman) with three draftees (One mid, one KPD and a young ruckman) and one experienced player (as is our custom each year).Comment
