The deal that keeps coming back to bite us is the Membrey one he would be the perfect medium size marking forward.

We should seriously consider trading the pick we get for Mitchell (13) and our own pick to someone like the Suns for a top 5 pick. Then we have Mills Heeney another top 5 pick to build the next 10 years on.
It would be tempting to do that if we get a pick this year - Pick 5 and 36 (hopefully) plus three upgrades (Papley, Marsh and Newman)

Really hope we can keep Nankervis now

Members kicked 44 from 17 games hardly a downhill skier. Some players just don't play well against their old club like Buddy against Hawks.
Check what games he kicked those goals, I wouldn't have thought many of them would be against top 8 sides.

8 goals from 7 games against top 8 sides, 36 from 10 games against bottom 8 sides is a pretty damning statistic

Not sure it's that clear cut - against the better teams the saints midfield was likely beaten with Membrey getting fewer opportunities at goal.

He is also a young player in a key spot. Would have Membrey ahead of X personally

He's the 3rd/4th forward behind Reiwoldt, McCartin, and Bruce, so he's hardly getting the 1st or 2nd best defender. Agreed he's ahead of Xavier though, but better defensive teams have him worked out

He kicked 44 goals from 17 games ahead of Mccartin with 14/11, Bruce with 38/22 and Riewoldt with 41/21.

Not a bad return from a 22 year old and I'd suggest he'd find a spot in most teams.

Im warming to the idea of Bruest, look at his stats over the last 5 yrs....not many smalls in the elite category. The fwd line mentioned before does look right with Reid in it

I like Isaac Smith too, he is more a need I think.

44 goals from 17 games, but 27 of those came against the mighty triumvirate of Carlton, Essendon and Melbourne. 17 out of 11 against everyone else (which is still not too shabby for a young guy!).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Problem with Breust is that his present contract is back-ended and he's on about 600K according to Brian Waldon on SEN. He'd be more expensive than keeping Tommy.

X is a work in progress but I feel he will end up a better player then Membrey over the next couple of years. I am not sure what his positional background as a junior was but he seems to be learning a few tricks from that other fellow we have running around in the forward line from time to time. What level of defender does he currently have marking him I assume it's a higher rated one than what Membrey faces. I rate him as a keeper

The facts seem to bear this out very comparable stats wise but early in both careers

Didn't Grundy come to the swans as a Forward ?

X could easily back to a key defender possie in years to come also when Grundy is starting to slow down
