How did he get his senior game? Apart from JPK's injury, was Hiscox the only available player? Did they see something in him prior to his selection? Odd that he gets one game, then nothingComment
-
Maybe they were hoping he'd have a blinder and get some interest from other clubs?Comment

It was the same game that BJ and Leonardis were originally named as emergencies and then mysteriously withdrawnComment

Swans won't rule out making play for delisted Don - AFL.com.au
Bit of an empty article but sounds like a move the swans would make
However if Shaun Edwards couldn't get a run in the 2016 Essendon side I'm a bit worriedComment
-
What a silly article on the AFL website, they must be hard up for content - Swan's won't rule out making play for delisted Don is the headline then the first two sentences
"THE Sydney Swans haven't made contact with former Essendon and Greater Western Sydney forward Shaun Edwards, but won't rule anything out. AFL.com.au understands the Swans haven't spoken with Edwards or his manager about throwing him an AFL lifeline"
So how is this an item on their website? We haven't spoken to him or his manager! sheesh this is crap!Comment

They haven't called me yet, hope that means I haven't been completely ruled out eithergreat journalism during a slow weekend
And "making a play" for him implies some kind of wheeling & dealing. When you sign a de-listed free agenent it's more offering a career life-line than making a playLast edited by 0918330512; 8 October 2016, 03:17 PM.Comment

They rang me after they heard about my miraculous recovery from a grade 0.63 medial ligament tear playing golf, but I explained
that sure as night follows day I would re-tear it playing yet another stupid, unnecessary shot from the rough. Probably even as
soon as tomorrow in the club championships. Besides I am about 25 years and 10 kilos past my best playing days.
Anyway 09183305, I told Horse you were a hybrid power forward / running defender / inside midfielder with elite ball throwing skills
the likes of which the game has never seen before, so expect a call and long term multi million dollar contract offer on Monday.

I agree that it is poor but I suspect that the AFL has given the clubs a number they can negotiate within and not come unstuck, I seem to remember that they have advised clubs to budget for a $1m increase next year in the TPPs with the following years to be confirmed later but a 3% annual increase, which seems low to me, has been mooted by the AFLComment
-
Now that they have forked out $200 million for Ethihad Staduim they may be ready to make some sort of announcement. I wonder what Fitzpatrick's cut is? ANZ Staduim and now Ethihad Stadium. He must be about to retire. Again, it smacks of another policy on the run by a dysfunctional mob. The thing that keeps the money rolling in is "the game".Comment

1% is about 100K per year.
If the AFL knows the real number, and lets say it is 15% or $1.5M not 10% or $1M, like the previous claim, then that extra 5% or 500K changes all negotiations.
Some teams know and some don't. Vickery, Mitchell and O'Meara. The Hawks know.

Gee the conspiracy theories and victim mentality start to wear a bit thin after a while.
You are right in your maths, the numbers that have been quoted are about $1,000,000 increase for 2017 and between $300,000 and $400,000 increases for years 2-6. It seems a bit low to me for the players to get their fair cut so I can see this getting nastyComment

Then to AFL should stop the trade period until signed off, but they havent. Is that fair.
Big deals always involves smoke and mirrors, slight of hand, deception with both groups trying to win.
Mug, the world is just not fair. That is the reality of life.
