That trade makes no sense to either club.
The last area Gold Coast is deficient in is tall forwards, with Lynch absolutely top notch, two-metre Pete developing nicely plus Day. And while they're not so flush for rucks, they are OK in that department (and reportedly about to add Witts to the list). Plus they are being forced to go back to the drawing board and rebuild with their gun mids walking out on them, so a 29 year old Tippett would seem pointless.
For Sydney, surely a large part of the reason the Swans allowed Mitchell to go was the knowledge that we have two top class very young mids who can step in and fill Mitchell's shoes, probably from as early as next year. And we will need to find salary cap dollars to re-sign Heeney next year and Mills the following year. A fit O'Meara would be a desirable commodity at any club but, as he is, he will be high risk, expensive, and doesn't fill any of the real weaknesses on our list.
And if the Swans were seriously considering trading Tippett out, would they not have done a lot more to persuade Nankervis to hang around for a bit?
