Has Harley been on the Kool-aid or the whole crew.

Hawks have pick 10 and 48. Surely there must be a fair player coming as well for 14 & 17 for this to work.

Make the Hawks pay for Mitchell.

      What the differences between 10 and 14 & 17???

      Two good players vs one!

I fear Harley yet again is being taken to the cleaners; he need to be sack ASAP!
      Will you just calm down!

FFS at least hear the details before you start demanding Harley's head, I'm pretty sure he knows more about football than all of us on this forum.

Won't be happy for 14 & 17 for 10 even if you add in some crappy 2nd round pick, I've gotten used to the idea of a couple of nippy midfielders in that draft range!

Not sure who we would want from Hawthorn that they'd be willing to release, Sicily is the only one I can think of. Breust would be ideal but I can't see that happening

I can't see how it would work unless they send us a player, unfortunately. Would Sicily be a good replacement for X?

We are in a position of strength here so I expect a hard bargain to be driven.

Clearly 10 and 48 for Picks 14 and 17 is not acceptable and if that is accepted I'll lead the chorus demanding Harley be sacked but it is inconceivable that deal would be done. I trust the team to get the deal done and I suggest we may still end up with two first rounders but the highest will be 10 (albeit with us losing a second rounder)

A loose unit not to be touched from all reports. He'd be expensive too.

I expect us to go for picks. I'll be very very surprised if we let go of two first round picks, the only players we'd accept we can't afford.

The Hawks need a player to go with their pick 10 for the Gold Coast. Maybe Towers?

Can you please give me one example where we have driving a hard bargain???

"The Western Bulldogs have sent picks 35 (round 2) and 43 (round 3) to Gold Cost for picks 26 (round 2) and 80 (pick 5)" - from AFL trade hub

That is what I would like to see our trading to be, moving up the draft.

How would that deal work? Only if they upgraded our pick 14 to pick 10

A good guide as to the value of deals is the Draft Points Value table by the AFL. http://www.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL...raft-value.pdf

From this you can see that WB were the effective winner in this deal - but were able to be the winner as GC already had pleanty of high draft picks. i.e. GC valued their round 26 pick of lower value than its "draft value" as they were already flush with high picks.

So turning to the Swans, Hawks, GC O'Meara deal. If we traded 14 and17 to the Hawks, in return we would need to receive their pick 10 and a pick 23/24 in return. As the Hawks dont have 23/24 we would then a player or a furture round 1 as well.

But they cant trade a future round 1, as they've already traded that, so they 'could' trade a player - but who. Roughy ;-)

I know I'll get shouted down but Marley Williams from the pies is going cheap, running half back flanker with speed and skill. Can we shake something out of the Hawks (need picks), Pies (need picks) or the Giants (cap space)?
I haven't watched Marley play and so can't comment from that point of view. But I am disturbed by the fact he has done gaol time for "a brutal one-punch attack outside a nightclub" occasioning grievous bodily harm and then lying to minimise the seriousness of his offending in court: Collingwood's Marley Williams convicted of GBH. This makes him at least as bad as Ty Vickery with his on-field coward hit on Cox.

Generally, I am a believer in redemption and giving people another chance and so I am not completely against him but I still find it disturbing. At least Marley has done the time. The best scenario is where people who have done wrong admit they have done wrong, take responsibility and complete their punishment. In those circumstances I am much more willing to wipe the slate and move forward. The more disturbing type of case to my mind is the case of alleged offenders who deny an offence to escape opprobrium and punishment. This is well and good if they are innocent but not guilty does not come close to meaning innocent given the (properly) high standard of proof in criminal cases. And I don't believe by any means that all people found not guilty or with charges dropped are innocent. So I personally would feel even less comfortable recruiting someone like Steven Milne or Majak Daw who have been charged with rapes but not been convicted. Theoretically I should give them the benefit of the doubt because they have not been found guilty - but I find it hard to do. To be honest, I have also long felt uncomfortable about the rape incident Micky O was allegedly involved in with Adam Heuskes and Peter Burgoyne where they paid money to the victim, as documented on 4 Corners 2004 - here's a link to the creepy transcript of the program: Four Corners - 03/05/2004: Fair Game? . (Really stirring up some murky water here, I know. Sorry. Have also moved some way from thread topic. Again, sorry.) Talia by comparison I feel much more willing to forgive. He hasn't hurt anyone. The worst thing (to my way of thinking) that he has done is be dishonest (if he has been, and I don't profess to have an opinion about that). (End of op-ed.)

Graham Wright in an interview this morning said they weren't trading any players.

They have already giving their first round pick next year to St Kilda.

At this last stage it would be very surprising that a player was included.

Just can't see how we are winning this year???

                            Pick 26 = 729 points
                            Pick 80 = 0 points

                            Pick 35 = 522 points
                            Pick 43 = 378 points

I'm not sure how you can conclude WB are the winner using the draft points value.

We have a very successful trading history over all. While we are not known for demanding to be paid overs we have certainly done alright at the other end of the ledger by paying unders. Other clubs don't tend to dig their heels in and drive a 'hard bargain' with us so much either. You need only to think of the many recycled player success stories we have to know some of the examples I'm thinking of.

Because they now have a pick in the top30, rather than 2 lower picks. I don't know how many they'll use. Points work for GCS, pick 26 works for WBD, we should do a similar deal with someone given we have too many picks
