Changes for 1st Semi Final vs Crows

We made a lot of mistakes (whether it be slipping over or kicking to opposition) in crucial places (eg their forward 50). I think that has a lot to do with their forward pressure.
Normally we find outlets from in close and then are able to spread it, but with the pace of the Giants they were able to put pressure on our players and force us to kick quickly. I hated the long kick into our forward 50 were there was just GWS players, but if they didn't do that, they would just get tackled with holding the ball. Not really sure what to do apart from try and apply similar pressure on their players. We are known for our two way running but that didn't feel like it was fully there on the weekend.
I don't think we necessarily need more speed for Adelaide so my ins would be:
Out: mills, Tippett
In: laidler, nankervis
Was Parker coached to kick to a position?
If so, why were there no players in that position?
If not WTF was he thinking?
Where was the vision?
Where was his team mate telling him where to kick?
GWS were bringing the ball out of their defensive 50 - so all our players were running back to defend. Therefore they were not going to be 40 m out dead centre, where he kicked it. So if he was coached to kick to that spot then he should have waited a sec or two to allow our players to turn around and get into position.
If he were not coached to kick there, why didn't he look BEFORE he kicked?
It's this kind of butchered disposal which pisses me off no end, and which we have been doing on and off all year. It goes OK against witches hats like Richmond, but against any half decent side we get scored against.
Make no mistake, what GWS did supremely well was capitalise on our mistakes, but why oh why do we do this.
Why can't we take a leaf out of the Hawthorn playbook and chip it around to find an opening?
Whatever you might say about Mitchell, Lewis, Hodge etc. is that they THINK first.Comment

In Parkers defence, Joey was so slooooowww to react to that kick. Along with some fumbles and missed handball targets in the same period, it was that moment it was obvious he was still struggling to clear the fog from his brain...Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

Seems the Crows have won 6 of their past 7 games at the SCG. Maybe we should shift it to ANZ Barry?

Sure we were under pressure many times but some kicks were just plain dumb. I recall Luke Parker taking a screamer in the second quarter on the half forward flank. I was 7 rows back and saw it all. Parker went back about 3 meters, then decided to play on. He went right and the GWS marker also went right. Parker then had to kick high to get over the mark. Kick to no one, except a GWS player by himself. Result: mark to GWS, they ran away and scored a goal.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I hope Nankers brings the biff like he did against StKilda. We sorely needed some mongrel in the GWS encounter.

A relief, but my god I'm fed up with him getting injured all the time. Injured players is the bane of our existence in the last few years.Comment

And once your arms are held back and you are slung hard into the turf there is nothing you can do but hope for the best. I hope Dumbford got his bitterness towards Tippett and the swans out of him, he did break his jaw.Comment

Surgery would likely keep him out, but there are risks of complications with surgery, so conservative treatment is often preferable when possible.Comment

It could be a product of our previously hard game plan which added to a lot of end of season injuries, but then again Tippo is a bit unco and goes into the contest kamikaze style without trying to injure the opposition.

I don't blame Mumford for a little bitterness to be honest. We dearly miss him and he's a large part of the reason we won in 2012 and haven't won it since. I would also say he's a very large part of the reason why GWS have become such a force.Comment
