But it does also open up a spot in the senior team to someone on the rookie list. With a fair number of established senior players and "senior fringe players" likely not to be ready for round one (based on who is just running, not in full training), I think this sends a message to COR, Melican, Fox or Edwards that that a slim opportunity is there for them, if they prove themselves over the next month.

I spoke to a person who works with the Calder cannons over Christmas and he said that we have a good player in Ben Ronke.
They thought he would have been picked up late in the second round of the draft not as a rookie.
He reminded him of the year Luke Parker got drafted, early that year he was expected to go top ten but kept drifting.
He could be an outside chance of the Papley role.Comment

Champion Data's take on Ronke -
"an inside midfielder with elite speed who gets in and out of traffic well. Playing for the Calder Cannons, he ranked in the above average category for Disposals, Contested possessions, ground-ball gets, clearances and tackles. His ability to hit the scoreboard is elite......"
I like the profile and we know our track record with rookies - just sayin'Comment

If anything he reminds me of Kieran Jack; he has very good lateral movement/side steps, takes small, quick steps and he kicks with a straight leg. Let's hope he can kick off his left.Comment

No, it's Kurt Tippett! That will surprise many on here.
Tippett really was in very good form until he was injured. I think on here there is a tendency to have short memory/attention span. If Naismith continues to develop and Cameron rises to the standard, maybe we play Tippett mainly as a FF target/deep fwd ruck work, that will give us better structure, particularly if Reid stands up at CHF. Tippett and Reid are both clunking marks when in form and that leaves Buddy to do what Buddy does best, create mobile havoc forward of centre.

Hey Ugg, unlike you not to be fully across everything at reserves level! Look forward to your comprehensive write ups again this year.Comment

I like the way you have the first stringer forwards playing the first stringer backs and second-stringers on second-stringers with a mix in the middle. It makes sense and also makes for a balanced match in the sense that the teams are overall fairly balanced. Is this the way they normally do it? I've never noticed. Except I think that sometimes they get players to switch teams mid-match.All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

The weather forecast for Sydney is for a temperature of 38 degrees at 3pm tomorrow (Friday). (And for 39 on Saturday). A lot of sporting fixtures are being rescheduled. I wonder if the intra club match will go ahead? Might be foolish to risk any player going down with heat stroke.Comment
