They'll trade to get picks before where they think Ballenden will go. The st Kilda one is a possibility. The hard one with this draft is that there's no massive standout. If we could I agree I'd prefer to bundle the 2 together n move up as I believe it's a shallow draft. If they could get even a 2nd for next year I'd take it with a big smile on my face. This is all purely idle speculation but if we did get their second rounder (23) I wonder if we could bundle it with our second rounder to get another first round pick. Brisbane might be open to trading their first rounder from Port if it means generating some second round picks for both a bid for Cameron (think Pick 23 would get that job done) with our second rounder adding some points that they'll need for Ballenden from their academy.
It will be really interesting to see how the Lions play the trade period. If I was a Lions fan I'd be really excited about them right now, crazy given their ladder position but they have done a great job the last 12 months. I would not be surprised to see them trade pick 1 to St Kilda for picks 7, 8 and a bit of change. It's just so risky for an interstate club like them to put all their eggs in one basket. A dude (and he looks like a right Dude) like Rayner carries so much less risk for a St Kilda than Brisbane and the Sainters need a quality draftee after choosing McCartin over Petracca (what were they thinking) and Billings of the Bont in recent yearsComment

Others to watch from this future draft are Josh Rayner, plays club footy with Jacko Barling. Quire a bit taller than Jacko and has a smooth kicking action.
The other stand out from NSW is Delahunty, from the Wagga area, unfortunately tied to GWS but this kid will be a key forward star.Comment

Aliir's name was mentioned that he could be traded on radio so everyone discussed if he was let go what he would be worth. He's had a good first season but he's not the second coming of David Dench. Everyone is tradable at the right price. No1's trolling you ????Comment

Its a very shallow draft, so unless so can get a pick from 1 to 6, not really worth the effort. They'll trade to get picks before where they think Ballenden will go. The st Kilda one is a possibility. Picks 1 to 6 are all gold, but no real stand out, so you get a great pick in that range.
Would rather save our picks and roll the dice on a couple of players, than do a Florent.
Yes he will be a good player, but that a big risk, better to go for two or three players than one.doof-doof

I wouldn't call the top 6 gold this year id all call them a very good chance to turn out very good players. Ballenden is around that 15-25 mark. To maximise their picks anything traded into Brisbane before that is an improvement. After pick 30 you'll be digging long n hard to find that nugget. Marshall went pick 16 last year n this year he'd rate around top 6-7. The conversation was trading our 2nd n if we got another second into a first round pick n I'd definitely do that as our 2nd would be around pick 30 n let's say we got pick 31. They are together worth about pick 12 on points value. I'd take that every day all day. Give me pick 12 over 2 late 2nds. Quality over quantity. People don't rate Florent because he doesn't have that buzz word that's been going around the last few years "x factor", whatever the hell it is. He'll be a very good dependable player. Is good at everything but does nothing spectacular ATM.Think Hannebery with cleaner skills. I wouldn't have rolled the dice I was very happy with Florent n Hayward. I rated Hayward higher but I rated Florent just after our pick so I think we did very well. It's the beginning of a long journey for Florent n I think it'll pay off long term for the club. Its a very shallow draft, so unless so can get a pick from 1 to 6, not really worth the effort.

If Florent came anything close to becoming the player that Hannebery has been, we'll be cartwheeling down Driver Avenue. He's not had his best season in 2017 but he's already a three time All-Australian and is still in his mid-20s.
I actually think Florent could become a McVeigh type player once he gets a bit of core body strength and adjusts to the pace of senior footy. And I'm referring to McVeigh when he was a midfielder, not the defence-marshalling player he's morphed into in his later years. I think Florent can work his way through traffic, see options quickly and reliably deliver by foot. Or at least, I think he has the raw materials to develop those traits in time. He's probably tried to deliver more than he was physically capable of during his early senior games but I think he'll soon be able to execute better on what he tries to do, and will get a better feel for what is and isn't possible amidst the pressure of AFL midfield play.Comment

I hope you practice your cartwheels. I watched a lot of him last year n watched his games at underage level again after getting drafted. I don't think he'll be as skilled as McVeigh but he'll be very clean imo. I think a lot of people forget how good McVeighs skills were in his prime. ATM Florent has been played out of position in the seniors as I think he's a pure midfielder. But not many first year draftees go straight into the midfield so it's understandable. If you've got the underage all star game on the Friday before the grand final last year watch it again n I think a fair few people would be surprised. I compared him more to Hannebery due to him having a very very good inside game but also plays the outside very well like Hannebery. Where in his prime McVeigh lent more to being an outside mid due to his amazing skills, mind you he was no slouch on the inside. He had players like Kirk n Goodes doing that hard grunt work. McVeigh is probably one of the most pure skilled n smart players this club has had since Greg Williams. Plus think of Florents mental toughness, this is a kid who played well enough to get drafted in the first round while at the same time watching his father die. I don't think I'd ever again (or ever?) wear shorts quite that short (not at my age and certainly not with my thighs) but otherwise, not bad. The colours are right at least.
I actually used to be pretty good at cartwheels as a young girl but I think I might pull something very painful if I tried to do one now!Comment

Let me correct that for you "plus there's pick 18 & 36".Comment
