I think every side has done some tampering. I remember in the 1990s that Adelaide crows use to hid away promising SA recruits from the draft process so they could slowly add them to their list. I remember when in 1988 the Swans tampered with the draft picks and gave away Wayne Carey for $45,000 and John Longmire for $10,000 to North Melbourne. OK ! guess we were not very good at tampering!! LOL

Regardless of the differences in opinion between your friends and mine, do you think it is acceptable for a player to refuse to play for an interstate team? NO, it isn't. It is in fact a breach of the rules. IMO, any player who does that has no integrity, as it flies in the face of the integrity of the game.
As for his scholarship. He was given an indigenous scholarship at Scotch. There were many, many more suitable candidates, of all colours, than him at the time. He WASgiven a scholarship ahead of others based on his skin colour. That's a fact. If you don't like that then you should be critical of those who promote reverse discrimation.Comment

+1. Anyone with any inside knowledge knows that this occurred. Even Hawthorn supporters admit it.
Many people of here don't like to hear anyone criticise indigenous players regardless of whether they deserve it or not. The truth hurts.Last edited by S.S. Bleeder; 6 September 2017, 08:50 PM.Comment

Are you suggesting he wasn't worthy because there were better footballers than him or people more academically gifted or people less well off? If your intent with this response is to re-affirm my conviction that you are confused and well wide of the mark on this one, congratulations you have succeeded.Regardless of the differences in opinion between your friends and mine, do you think it is acceptable for a player to refuse to play for an interstate team? He got the scholarship at the age of 14. At the time there were many more kids in front of him based on football ability who would have loved, and possibly flourished in, an opportunity like this. I'm not referring to his academic ability at all because it was purely based on his football ability and that he was indigenous. His surname probably helped a lot too.
I find discrimination wrong on all counts. This also includes reverse discrimation which some people think is acceptable which is extremely hypocritical of them.Comment

I reckon it's the two guys on the left, one with a grey trackie top with a cap (Jarryd) and the guy next to him but closer to Fletcher with the dark sports coat and a torrent of abuse to go with it (Mark), my only doubt is he might not look enough like a teenager. They do resemble the brothers McVeigh though. Can't see them there? Were they wearing ponytails?

It looks like Stringer is going to be up for trade. Apparently, he hasn't been happy since his relegation to the VFL last year. At his best he would be a great recruit for us. Unfortunately, I don't think he has the correct attitude to fit into our culture. Our players are held accountable and unless he improved his defensive pressure and attitude he'd end up in the NEAFL.Comment

Might be just what he needs. But we don't want a sook who thinks he gets a game regardless of form.It looks like Stringer is going to be up for trade. "The Package"......that's one catch cry of BT's that didn't come to fruition.
The Pies will pick him up.Comment
