The giants had a look at him and traded him out, and now he's out at Carlton. Steer clear in my opinion.

The Giants seemed happy enough with him, he just wanted out for more bucks/opportunity and Carlton were willing to pay overs in a trade. I think I'm just looking at it as a "Carlton are genuinely pretty crap"- so worrying he couldn't crack their side, but also would just be curious if our coaching staff could do anything.
I doubt he'd make it and I'm not suggesting he'd be a star, but I'd be happy for them to take a Talia/Edwards style low risk on him if we have the room. Decent KPP size, can take a mark and kick straight. He's wildly inconsistent, but has had that "swingman" tag his whole career and I wonder if getting thrown from one end to the other doesn't help some guys.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Kristian Jaksch has been dumped by Carlton. Showed a bit of promise whilst at GWS, hence the Blues coughing up big for him in the trade, but went backwards at Carlton. Still pretty young, I'd be happy to give him a speculative season or two to see what our coaching staff can do assuming it would be a fairly cheap pick up.
A pick 12 in 2012, has not show anything and not being injury.
Happy for the club to interview but some players just don't make it.doof-doofComment

He actually played his first game in 2013, and he's still only 22. He is a bit unit, 195CM, 95Kg. I don't know
his particular circumstances, but I often wonder where the likes of him would be now if he had come to us
when drafted. With the unique nature of the early days at GWS you would have to think that there were
potentially quality footballers that would fall through the cracks, and the jury is still well and truly out on Carlton's
ability to develop young talent.Comment

I'm not sure I would trade Aliir for any 1st round pick this year. Last year. Certainly. And 2018 is looking to be a good draft. In this year there is no standout player. I'm sure there will be players that turn out to be better than Aliir, but it's not evident who they are. Let's say we used our top 5 pick to take the best tall utility in the draft this year, which is probably either Jarrod Brander or Noah Balta. I think both are likely top 10 picks. I like both players, but both have been inconsistent and it not clear if either would come up to the talent of Aliir. I would be sticking with what we have.
Would like to get Balta, around our pick at 17 this year; true has been inconsistent but most players age 18 are not guns ready to play AFL.
Has show really great patches of pure quality which the coaching staff can work with.
As for AA, still has so much upside i don't understand the why we would trade him???
As for other talls this draft, Tom McCartin, brother of St Kilda's Paddy, or Aiden Bonar are very good prospects.doof-doofComment

Directly comparing more experienced players, I'd much rather, for instance, see Edwards get a second year than take a punt on someone like Jaksch. I think Edwards offers something we're in even more short supply of than Jaksch (and even then, it's probably 50/50 whether Edwards gets another opportunity).Comment

If it comes down to another season for Edwards or a season for Jaksch, I'd definitely prefer Edwards.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

It won't be Brander, single digits pick for him.

Knightmare's AFL Draft Power Rankings September Andrew Brayshaw surges
I rate him a bit as he has no allegiances to the AFL or a club. I disagree with some things though, like Naughton kicking as a weakness. While it's a bit unconventional it's very effective as I've seen him play a number of times. They'd trade Aliir for the right price like say a first round pick everyone is tradable at the right price.

I'm not enthused by the idea, but regardless, I think "if we have the room" is key here. We almost certainly don't. Each of our rookie listed players this year showed enough to suggest they could have something to offer with a bit more development time. I don't expect they'll all get a second year but you can make a case for each of them. With very few senior listed players out of contract and available to be delisted, it's hard to see much change at all. We'll probably see just the two ND selections plus Melican's elevation to complete the senior list, and I wouldn't be surprised to see 4-5 of the rookies retained for another year.

From AFL Draft Central:
#6 Aiden Bonar ? Was impressive throughout the contest and spent more time in the midfield as the game went on. His pressure was very high and he laid some very strong tackles. Has presence around the contest and showed that he has a decent burst when he needs to use it. Took a strong contested mark in the third quarter and was able to find the ball around the ground. Bonar was willing to provide multiple efforts, including a great passage of play in front of recruiters on the wing ? where he was able to make multiple efforts and attempt to win back the ball by applying pressure on the Geelong defenders.
#41 Tom McCartin ? Leapt at a few balls throughout the day and you can tell he?s the brother of St Kilda?s Patrick. Had some good defensive efforts and was involved in a few score assists, getting the ball to teammates. Unfortunately, his day ended early suffering concussion.doof-doofComment

They have both being injury, so haven't played much so don't appear in to many rankings. We won't have really high picks so that why I think we should have a look at them!

Speaking of giants. In hindsight they should have given up Kelly to get our Mitchell. They would be unbeatable with him.Win win trade of the year.
