There is only one large monster in the room and that's Tippett, he is chewing up way too much salary cap for what he contributes. We have been waiting for the fully fit dominant season and it's just not going to happen. The real question is whether its worth it get half of his salary off the books we can. Is an $800,000 (or more I will be conservative) Tippett worth more to us than a handy utility on $400,000?Comment

My opinion is objective truth in its purest formComment

His initial four year deal was reportedly $950K a year over four years from 2013-16. He then triggered a two year extension for 2017-18 which we all assume is at the same money but we don't know. That deal was then re-negotiated over four years at a lower annual salary, again we do not know the number but the figure that is being bandied around is $600K a year over 2017-20. I suspect that we did that to free up cash to get Reid and Jones over theline but in the end that may not have been necessary as the cap went up by $2m which was the high end of expectations.
At $600K per season he is expensive but he not the cap monster you make out. My personal view is that we wouldn't get a replacement in as good for under $400,000 a year so is it worth trading him? I don't think we'll get an offer that makes it worth trading him out. And I think if we can get him fit and firing he can still do a role for us next year. Nothing would annoy me more than seeing him go elsewhere and then have a good season knowing we are paying himComment

Are we forgetting what we have in the wings.
Dawson needs a chance, he has sublime kicking in the neafl, so if he goes at 75% at senior level he's our best.
Florent will be so much better
Maibalm will be the gorilla minder for 10 years.
Murray, fisher, Ronke, wicks, Edwards all have the potential to play a more open style, which we need to do in the future.
Mills is slow, he won't give us speed, bit like Pendlebury.
Jones and Papley could be used as crumbling Fwds. If we are stuck with tippo. He stays inside 50 and rams packs.
Rohan could do what Dangerfield did if horse could make a call.
One out he's a tough match up.
Give him the 50. If the loose man goes in. MAN HIM UP!!!
We are ok, a bit of speed, will help, some drafting of new ideas In the coaches box may be more beneficial to our team.
Re Rohan, I'd like us to stick with him in one position. And for mine the place he looks most damaging and at home is as a leading forward. Have Buddy at CHF, Reid as the clunker deep in the forward line and Rohan as the other leading option. He is a good mark, very quick and a good kick for goal. But I think Horse needs to pick and stick re Gary's best spot.
Jones is a midfielder for sure not a forward IMO. Mills is not lightning quick but he isn't slow either, problem is he is doing such a good job down back and he will be hard to replace. Dawson and Florent should both be regulars next year I agreeComment

We just got a good first hand look at sinclair and naismith and it was far from convincing
Tippo stays and its 70% Sammy 20% Tippo and Alir for a chopoutComment

I think the thinking on Tippo has changed in that we would only entertain very good offers and not offers of half his salary etc

Tippett: 31 disposals, 2 goals, 6 marks, 4 tackles
Rohan: 29 disposals, 4 goals, 10 marks, 10 tackles
If we go back to 2015, Tippett's best year at the Swans at least, he had a good finals series and Rohan had a shocker. What this shows is Tippett has been below his best for two years running now and showing no signs of improving. Obviously we can't compare their finals output this year. Rohan kicked 2 goals, laid 5 tackles and took 5 marks against Essendon, before mostly going missing (like most of the team) against Geelong - though I recall some fantastic forward pressure early in the game and a brilliant run later that deserved more than it got.Comment

I'm a Tippett fan.
BUT, he is always injured.
AND he hasn't been able to really be consistent for any amount of time.
So because of that, I'm out.
lol, just wanted to make a Shark Tank reference.
If he stays I'll be OK with that, but the way the Swans came out and said he is a required player wreaks of pumping up his value for the trade table.
Allir is a strange one. We can only assume that there was a bit more to his late arrival at training or whatever.
Something doesn't add up there, as he was playing pretty well, and then left in the reserves. No chance given when opportunities arose.
So either they have a plan for him (ala Dawson) or he's not in the good books. I call a even odds on both potential options.
Will be interesting to see if he is safe at the trade table.
I expect Talia to be desisted. Called it at the time of the drugs stuff. No place at the Swans.
Forget about the imaginary no dickheads policy, what he did went against the grain of all the Swans are, and are trying to be, and it was the right call to let him dwindle away. The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment
