Allegedly been offered "big currency" as well... that would probably narrow it down to North/Saints/Bombers.

Don't think he's worth the money + a first round pick given his laziness and attitude.

Wouldn't have thought Essendon or Saints really need him. They already have forward lines with a reasonable degree of talent and scope for further improvement with their younger, developing players. Membrey and Begley (still very experienced, I know) play a similar kind of role to Stringer.

North does seem a good fit, though. They've loads of money to throw at someone (and they do have to throw it somewhere), are desperate to show the footy world that they can attract a "big name" player, and would really benefit from someone like Stringer to complement Brown.

Agree re the Bombers but I think the Sainters would be in for him. Membrey and Bruce haven't exactly set the world on fire and McCartin has the making of one the biggest Number 1 draft pick Duds in history. Plus of course they have Reiwoldt retiring. They lack some star power and he would bring that but also be high maintenance.

North bidding will largely depend on how they go with Kelly with whom I am sure they will increase their already ridiculous offer. Having said that I have a feeling he will stay at GWS for another couple of years. If so then a move to North would seem logical given they have to try and get someone in. A swap of their first rounders plus some extra trade currency from North to the Doggies would probably get the job done, especially if the doggies have a couple of kids they rate highly in that top 4-5 category.

Looking at the Dogs now, they really did get hit on the bum by a rainbow last year to win it, notwithstanding the help the got from the Umps.

Clearly they won't all come off the list but next year will be the one for a squad refresh not this year. Wondering if we would look at trading our third rounder for a future pick with this in mind
Aliir definitely won't be off the list theres already some speculation about clubs seeing if he wants a trade this year and he's out of contract next year. Not sure what Footes contract situation is but he's clearly not a AFL standard player. Maibaum was AA u18 wasn't he?

BJ out of contract this year will also be delisted.

Any club wanting Stringer will have to make sure they have extra wide doors on their establishments just to fit his big head through! Seems to be a soured relationship at the Dogs, he will have keen Melbourne suitors, Pies seem to pick up anyone available without much thought!

Foote has a contract for next year. BJ, Leonardis & Talia are the only out of contract players but a few with 2018 contracts could ask for trades for more senior opportunity. Doubt we'd stand in the way of too many of those likely leavers.

            Maibaum was AA U18 FB.

Could be a year for some clever dealing in 2017 & 2018 picks.

I was talking about next year. Aliir's future with the club is by no means certain after 2018, he hasn't come on like we hoped and he needs a big pre-season. I'm still not sure we have found his best position to be honest.

BJ, Tyrone and Talia would seem the logical delists and Melican is of course an elevation so it raises questions re our drafting this year. I suspect we will trade out one player for opportunities elsewhere but would expect a decent upgrade of our third rounder in return. Rose is a guy that I think clubs may take a look at. I like him - he has decent pace, a bit of an X factor and his work rate has really improved. He seems like a young bloke that is very coachable but you look at him on our list and wonder who he is ever going to force out. Marsh is another one a role type player but I think he gives us good cover in defence.

You'd think Maibaum will come on well next year and get extended and I agree Foote looks nowhere like an AFL footballer. It will be interesting to see what happens with COR as he also seems to have stalled - watching him last year I was convinced he was a senior player in the making but he has almost been unsighted in the NEAFL games I have watched this year.

You'll be eating your words next year, once again. He messed up his opportunity to get back in the senior side this year and no other opportunities came up as our back line remained healthy the rest of the year. No defender deserved to dropped from the side this year and Longmire didn't see fit to move Mills to midfield to make room for Aliir. So be it. The finals side now has Tower in the side instead of Aliir, which would have been the end result of such a change. I think that would have been a stronger side, but surely others will disagree.

There's nothing to base any prognostication beyond 2018 when there is a whole year of football yet to be played out. What remains is that Aliir is a raw but special talent. We saw in 2016 that he has a game that works at AFL level. I have faith in our development team to get the best out of him. They have already brought him a long way from the player he was in 2014.

Analyzing NEAFL performances can be difficult when trying to project which players have a future at AFL level. We can take the case of Brandon Jack, who has been among our best reserves players for a few years, but flops at AFL level.

O'Riordan is another player who has had an indifferent year, in part due to injury. But he plays an AFL type game, which is why the numbers don't matter to me so much when evaluating his prospects. Sam Fisher is another one that has a game conducive to AFL level and has put in a good year.

I hope you are right, I was so bullish about Aliir this year, like you I have faith in our development team but clearly 2018 will be a defining year for Aliir and his career with the Swans

I'm not sure if it will be a defining year, but certainly an important one, as he needs to establish himself in the senior side. If he can stay fit, he should be able to do it.

Abe Davis was, and still is, a talented player. Unfortunately, he tried to emulate Ludwig too much and became a lazy bastard.

Much surprised on what is aid on forum. Aliir aliir has got the goods and he would be madness to trade him unless you got a top 5 draft pick. He has had a ordinary year but he has got the goods. Also its likely it will be Grundy's last year in 2018. As for Stringer. NO!! He does not have the right approach/mindset to his footy to be part of the Swans culture, personally never respected him as a player.

For a player who cant make it into the first 22... you should be doing trade deals for Essendon.

I'm not sure I would trade Aliir for any 1st round pick this year. Last year. Certainly. And 2018 is looking to be a good draft. In this year there is no standout player. I'm sure there will be players that turn out to be better than Aliir, but it's not evident who they are. Let's say we used our top 5 pick to take the best tall utility in the draft this year, which is probably either Jarrod Brander or Noah Balta. I think both are likely top 10 picks. I like both players, but both have been inconsistent and it not clear if either would come up to the talent of Aliir. I would be sticking with what we have.

Kristian Jaksch has been dumped by Carlton. Showed a bit of promise whilst at GWS, hence the Blues coughing up big for him in the trade, but went backwards at Carlton. Still pretty young, I'd be happy to give him a speculative season or two to see what our coaching staff can do assuming it would be a fairly cheap pick up.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
