U18: No.1 pick fancy guides Vic Country home - M.afl.com.au

It does sfa to enlighten us. For example how did Brander play at CHB. What was his positioning like? Did he use much run? What was his body work like? Plus with Hardman named in the bests what was he like? Was he positioned correctly playing hf? Did he play much inside? As this year he's tried more to add this to his game, did he just rely on his pace? What was his skills like in traffic?

Good to see Shipley, the Sydney GWS lad, have another good game.

You'd have to think he is a cert to be drafted by GWS, as much as I don't like them now I reckon I'll soften a lot once they start to get some Sydney boys on the list

Like I said in other threads I think it's just going to take time to build up regular talent from western Sydney. It depends where he gets bid on. Would like him at Sydney. They have a plethora of mids. They need a ruck n key back. They'd be spewing about losing Brander.

It's a match report. You're never going to be given that level of detail in a match report about any player, let alone all 44 players who participated.

What your saying is the exact reason why it's so rediculous that there is no footage of the game and just a short report from the game.

You wouldn't be able to answer those questions even from a video feed. You'd need to watch the game live, and focus on the players that you're interested in.

No disagree. You would be able to pick a lot of that out. Just as an example you should definitely be able to pick up what Hardmans skills were like in traffic. If you watch a game on tv you also should be able to see if he's positioned correctly at stoppages on a hff. Plus with Brander you should still be able to pick up his body work just like when you watch Grundy you see his body work as the ball is coming in. You just need big good quality tv.

Oh No! So it's all downhill from here? He probably peaked in the North Melbourne game.

I think we have 3 players who were in the reserves last week who could improve the team: Aliir, Rohan and Dawson. The players in the senior side who are the most expendable are Sinclair, Marsh and Towers.

I'm pleased to see Sinclair and Marsh playing as well as they have. It's just unfortunate for them that we have several players in front of them on our list for their positions. We should consider packaging them up at the end of the year for Freo, who desperately need these types of players. Hopefully we could get a 2nd round pick in 2018, but maybe we would have to throw in a sweetener.

Marsh is from WA and obviously Sinclair has lived there too, might be good for all parties involved

Mark McVeigh is coaching there at the moment. Jarrad may well do that but I hope he stays with the swans in a coaching capacity

Macca to GWS makes a lot of sense. For Macca, I think it makes a lot of sense to leave the Swans and get exposure to something different. Plus he gets to do that without leaving Sydney and returning to his roots - he actually is from Western Sydney. For GWS it's a great recruiting option. He's already acknowledged for his coaching and leadership abilities (and been trained up in that capacity by us) and is very very well respected. For the Swans it's sad to lose him but (a) he may return down the track; and (b) we don't desperately need new junior coaches and in any event we probably want to get in new coaches from outside who bring something fresh to the table.

Apart from the fact the tone comes across as a little disrespectful:

                              1. We might need Sinclair if we get rid of Tippett (although I realise you don't think we need any rucks at all except to list as travelling emergencies).
                              2. Possibly you are undervaluing these players. Marsh would be worth close to a 2nd rounder on his own. It's taken a while but he's shown he can play at the level and is young with a career in front of him whereas many 2nd round picks don't make it at all. He could easily play a hundred games for a new club. Sinclair is possibly worth more as he is a proven ruck when most young rucks are merely prospects that will take an aeon to develop. I reckon these guys are worth a pick thirty something and a pick forty something respectively which is better than the average 2nd round pick (I think?).
                              3. Sinclair is still under contract and so would have to agree which would be an awkward and weird look in the best case that he would like to go back to WA. If he in fact wants to be in Sydney (and, say, this was why we made a play for him rather than Lycett) then he may not agree at all.
                              4. Clearly you are wrong in saying "we have several players in front of them on our list for their positions" because they are getting games while some of their rivals are playing reserves.
