He could easily play a hundred games for a new club. Sinclair is possibly worth more as he is a proven ruck when most young rucks are merely prospects that will take an aeon to develop. I reckon these guys are worth a pick thirty something and a pick forty something respectively which is better than the average 2nd round pick (I think?).

It's hard to put a trade value on these kind of players. I tend to think Boddo is a bit closer to the mark, which is why I said in the original post that we may have to add a sweetener, like a 3rd round pick.

Sinclair's marking is a real problem, both for us and any potential suitors, yet he's been able to hold his spot in the side since round 3. Go figure!

I think Marsh has shown enough to be an attractive prospect for a lot a clubs. I'm actually quite happy with Marsh, but as I said, we just have too many of his type at the club and it will be a waste to keep him on the list if he's not playing senior footy.

If the picks are going to be used for Academy players, 2 picks in the 40's is probably better than 25 anyway.

Hawks might now be keen to send O'Meara their way, as well.

I guess any player is tradeable at the right price but I couldn't see us wanting to trade Marsh. And despite him being good for us I couldn't see another club giving too much, I like Marsh but players like him are dime a dozen, it's how you get the best out of them that matters.

I don't quite get your comment, he is a list player at the moment so clearly he's not going to play seniors every week as a list player. Having said that he's played 8 games (of 11) this year up from 7 last season and he is clearly moving in the right direction.

As for "too many of his type" I don't get that either, it comes across as quite disrespectful but I'm sure you don't mean t that way. This is a guy who busted his gut to get his chance, he's taken it and never let us down and I assume he is quite cheap cap space. Clearly not a star at this stage but all clubs need good depth players like Marsh

Marsh and Sinclair are not worth much if anything in trade.

A few of you need to go back over the trades of the last few years to see the REAL trading value of such players and bundling two together doesn't move the value much either.

Reality says there would be a shuffling of late picks to get the player where he wants to go, just like the shuffle of fourth rounders to get Talia to us or the shuffle of picks to get Biggs to the Dogs.

Marsh for all his improvement isn't best 22, will be overtaken by ressie players just like Newman has this year.

I did not expect Marsh to be a player where there is huge interest from other clubs. For us he seems to be a squad player that plays his role.

Mills, Jones, Lloyd and Newman are probably better players off half back. But Marsh seems to be more of a medium defender who is slightly better defensively than some of those players. So I think useful to have in the squad. Especially as a backup to Nick Smith.

Sinclair has been maligned on here. He has done OK in recent weeks for our third choice ruck.

If Fremantle are interested in both of those players and willing to offer them a long term deal. Then I think the Swans would let them go without expecting much in compensation for the player's sake.

Plus he gets to do that without leaving Sydney and returning to his roots - he actually is from Western Sydney. For GWS it's a great recruiting option. He's already acknowledged for his coaching and leadership abilities (and been trained up in that capacity by us) and is very very well respected. For the Swans it's sad to lose him but (a) he may return down the track; and (b) we don't desperately need new junior coaches and in any event we probably want to get in new coaches from outside who bring something fresh to the table.
I think that we really need need to be sourcing our coaches and support staff externally. No room for sentimentality given that we need to keep up with the development of the game. Infact, we should be targeting coaches and staff from the clubs that have adapted their game styles to suit the modern game, such as, Hawthorn, Adelaide, WC, Bulldogs, etc.

Scharenburg didn't even get drafted last year. At one stage Grundy was a top ten n then drifted over a year n ended up a rookie. Blakey still needs to decide where he wants to go as well. Does anyone have the inside word on which way Blakey is leaning? I'll be p1553d if he picks either Brisbane or Roos. It's not often we get home grown talent. It'll be a kick in the guts if he doesn't want to play in his home city.

I'd keep marsh in the squad
Great value but gives our 22 flexibility and if nick smith was injured for a season we need a shut down type player

Why would you let Marsh go for virtually nothing, The only reason would be if another club made him a better offer.

I've made that point several times in other posts. My post was more in relation to people predicting a top 5 in next years draft. He has four choices n it's up to him. There has been no indication of what he wants to do yet & why would there be it's a year n a half till next years draft n a lot can change in that time.
