Think we're dreaming if you think we could get anywhere near any of those guys if we let Reid go....

Daniher and Moore I'd love but they're going nowhere and will be on more than we could offer Reid anyway. Likewise McGovern. Having said that I'd take those three over Reid

Stringer is a flat track bully, big time Charlie Bogan who I'd detest seeing in red and white.

Gunston is the only one I see as being tradeable, mainly because of the laughable state of the Hawks draft picks for this year as they try and engineer a rebuild. I think he is massively overrated myself and the poor way he is playing this year in a struggling side speaks volumes. A first rounder might get him but I'd keep Reid over him any day.

Gunston is one of those players that look better in a good side so theoretically would play well at Sydney but I believe Hawthorn would ask for some rediculous trade like a first rounder n Florent for Gunstan n a trade of other picks, it go along the lines of he's homesick n misses his family tremendously after the death of his father n if we don't let him go now he's gone next year. He was a Hawthorn supporter n like I've said before I have no doubt they keep in contact.

        Really?

Unless you've got some family connection with Florent I think it's a bit early to be writing him off as a trade back to a Melbourne club.

And I don't think that Hawthorn would keep in contact actively with a player on our list as a first year player, maybe I'm na?ve but I don't think that things have got quite that cynical yet and we'd try and jump on stuff like that if we found out. Sure he may have some contacts down there via kids he played with in Melbourne but I would have thought he is just working his butt off up here trying to have a good first season.

Which BTW I think he is having. From all reports he is going well in the twos and he has had a taste of senior footy. Needs a big pre-season and a good start to next year as it is hard to see him playing seniors again this year

I'm not saying we'd want him to leave im saying he was a Hawthorn supporter n they should know this & that he would definitely miss family at times. I've said it before that I have no doubt clubs keep in contact with players even after being drafted. WB kept in contact with Boyd n Hawthorns recruiting of O'Meara was done over a fair period of time. It's not an official contact it's more a call, a chat, a catch up while down there. Then it just takes a mate of a mate to hear I miss mum sometimes but I'm good" n there's your angle. That's it just a minor small thing. These kids meet lots of rival clubs administrators, coaches, staff and friends from other clubs. In no way shape or form am I advocating trading him but it's a professional business n a professional club will use any angle to get an advantage. Hawthorn are in terrible shape ATM and it's going to take a lot of digging to get themselves out of it so they'd be mad not to try it. Look at how they got Rioli. Basically tanked every interview. It's well known n even chuckled about on tv sometimes.

I know that I am getting in a bit early for the 2018 Draft but outside Blakey, there will be other linked players.

Matty Lloyd (Taller and younger brother of Jake) ratio 1CP:2UP, good kick.

Interesting and strong draft next year (2018), bet there's little trading of next year picks.

Blakey is the tricky one, will he stay here or decamp to Norf?

Dunkley Jnr, if he's good enough might do the same deal as Josh, nominate us as a fall back in case he gets selected by a non Vic club.

A bit more on the younger Lloyd

Next years draft is an absolute rippa. If anyone watched the allies v SA game on the weekend you'll notice that there is a few that'll be rated better than Blakey.

I think he'll stay. On Dunkley if the afl bring live trading in it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he ends up at the dogs n we get a pick out of it.

The Allies FF from Tas looked pretty good with strong hands and a nice kick for goal.

Not sure Brander is CHB. Fogarty looks good but a bit of SPP syndrome. Stronger then most kids but can he deliver against man. Does have a bit of extra power in him.

Loukosius looked very nice and a long curly blonde hair mid from SA.

Scott from Allies would be a good pick for Lions.

Jack Gunston left Adelaide because he was home sick seriously doubt he want to go play interstate when he can go play for Melbourne, Saints, Richmond & Carlton all of them have cap space and need a tall.

Dixon looks good as a FF but from what I've been told from people in tassie is that he doesn't have the versatility to play anything but ff. Brander good murdered at chb at the start of his game. It's only one game I know but in future years these are who he'll be playing on so I'd say he will slide as he may not have the versatility to play down back. Totally agree on Fogarty. Those 2018 boys looked very very good. It'll be a very strong draft next year n like I've said previously clubs will be very reluctant to trade any future early pics this year.

Partly. Hawthorn had been speaking to him for a while n gave him an offer he couldn't refuse. He's older now so a move interstate wouldn't be the killer suggestion it previously was. Personally I'd rather keep Reid. I think a move to Richmond for Gunston would be a good one for all parties. He'll be atleast 29 by the time Hawthorn pulls it together. He plays a lot better in good sides and Richmond desperately needs help for Riewoldt and it gives Hawthorn the picks it desperately needs.

Dawson & Florent sign new contracts, no need to discuss them any more in this thread. Loving the clubs work signing up well before contracts due. Shows a happy club.

Finally a pay deal has been agreed between the players and the AFL so hopefully we can get Jones and Reid signed up.

Good to hear that we have extended Florent and Dawson ????.
