Yup, Buddy should just be an @$$hole to his mates after the game. That's the Buddy we know.

And you're right, Mitchell should have turned down a contract that was over twice what we offered him. And Buddy - who everyone has been pumping up all season until tonight did the right thing by his former team taking the $10M offer.

Honestly, a loss brings out the worst in people.

Yeah, felt decisive; also representative. We needed more from senior players like Rampe tonight.

Newman, fair dinkum a very outsmart player.Butchered the footy all game. Kick out was horrible. That last play. Wow. Just kicked to the pack, took a week to move it on and he had 2 players running down the flank. Should have kicked it long over the top. Has got way ahead of himself.

The dropped mark is the huge moment in that Ugg, not the score review, as you rightfully point out. Rampe just does not drop those normally.

Although when will the AFL spend some of their billions to get decent quality cameras for the score review. Looks like the quality of an old school 0.9 megapixel webcam. I reckon Melican must have got something on that for the ball to jut off at that angle. That's not to say one can argue with the goal review decision, on the basis of the evidence available.

Hawthorn are really good at what they do. It's hard to coach against, and you need a lot of things to go right. In particular, we struggle against them because we're not generally a big contested marking side, and the Hawthorn style is very effective in taking away what we do well.
I thought Papley was very good. Three goals, set up a few, broke away a couple of times.

He had a poor game, but criticism of his last kick is harsh imo.

There were 30 seconds on the clock, we needed a goal and he was on the half back wing. He had to take a risk and bring it in board. He had no obvious runners nearby, so had to roll the dice. He is in a poor patch of form, but I can't see an obvious replacement, and we have seen that he has a lot of quality when on song.

You can't blame Longmire for kicks missing targets, handballs missing targets, missed tackles, dropped marks and players not providing options when we have the ball.

I'm just as frustrated as everyone the way we disintegrate against this side. And what's even more frustrating is that we don't get beaten by much.

It doesn't help losing 2 important players before the game. Then Naismith gets injured, Kennedy has a dodgy hammy and Sinclair injures his ankle.

Yep. Lost confidence in his kicking. None decisive. Just noticed he was the game's top possession getter. That's a lot of butchered ball.

Perhaps next time we play the Hawks Longmire should pull a sickie. Let Stewie have a go. All part of the succession strategy. Nothing in that I reckon and all part of picking horses for courses

At the end of the day we all love a bit of a contest so now it's really game on so bring it! Don't give up!

If you were told at the start of the game that JPK would have only 14 possessions and a buddy would kick 1.1, you'd think we'd lose by 50. I can't believe we only lost by a kick.

Here is a little pick-me up for those feeling depressed:

The Dons play the Dogs this week
Next week, the Giants play the Demons in Sydney. The Saints play the Eagles.
Week after that, the Dogs play the Giants. The Dons play the Crows. The Saints play the Demons.

Point being, the Swans are still in the top 8. Yes, they have to face the Cats and Crows but they do have the ability to win both of those games. And the other teams in the mix will likely be getting some losses, as well (especially when they play each other!)

That is what is so galling about our Swans AB. We've had several of those sorts of losses this year - we should probably be prouder of how good we are at staying in games even when playing exceptionally poorly with lots of players down - but its so frustrating to get so close (yet another close one we've lost where we led earliesh in the last quarter) and then blow it.

Look at it this way I suppose - 8 wins in a row from here and we will be premiers.

Tonight's game showed why we need to find a decent ruckman - hawthorn can play through McEvoy because he is mobile and can take a mark - non of our ruckman can take a mark so back to Tippett we go,
