A future second rounder would seem fair for Hanners in his current condition. As long as the Saints pay his entire salary. If we can do that, then we might be in a position to make a play for Shiel. Wishful thinking, but the Swans have been known to go alright in landing a big fish or two at the trade table.

Always been happy with a 2nd rounder for him so long as they take his salary.
3rd round would be tough to accept for him. He's not useless, and in the right team will perform well. The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

Lets face it people, we are once again going to get fleeced during another trade week... hell we might as well have another trade ban as it would at least stop us from all the ridiculous movements we'll likely to do in the coming week and a half.
We are not getting anything other than 'steak knives' people so forget Shiel or any other high profile player the media has dreamed up...
We are going to trade out players like Hannas and Rohan who are contracted for basically next to nothing because that's just what we do... two players who 1. Was an all Australian (admittedly 3 seasons ago) and 2. a former high first round pick who didn't live up to potential through injuries or whatever else but still has that X factor. And we'll likely pay some of their salaries too!
Hell I honestly hope we trade our first round pick or something like that to say Carlton for their future first rounder next year (which could help them land a McGovern perhaps)! At least it may give us something to look forward to next off season... but we'll likely sit tight on it and pair it up with our 2nd rounder to pay for an early bid on Blakey...
I'm predicting another boring mediocre Swans off season unfortunately...

From an econometric perspective, the rules around free agency are dodgy as hell.
In this system, there is a free lunch and the football state clubs are munching on some rather tasty fare from the development state clubs. This situation is entirely of the AFL's making.Comment

We will see in a fortnight then. Would love to be wrong but don't see it happening unfortunately! Just read online that Finlayson has met with North Melbourne! Now why wouldn't we be hunting a good young player with potential like him! Has a great left boot and him and a N.S.W. boy too!
One thing I've noticed about the Scott brothers. Both their teams are always extremely active and aggressive in the off season trade periods! Whether it's worked or not, at least they are trying to get better and also bring some hope and optimism to their supporter groups! I wish Horse and Harley would take a leaf from them instead of the straight bat, we don't want to upset any other club and tell you nothing approach they always have!

And the winners are with FA and Trade Week are; the player agents.
We have a Royal Commission into the banking and finance industry where "churning" (reinvesting elsewhere) regularly, clients funds for a commission was common. Player agents move players like chess pieces and get a dividend every time. Just "churning players".
They play players off between clubs with rumours and when a club re signs a player they get another divi. They get a divi no matter where the player goes. They keep shoppin' them around.
Royal Commission into the AFL anyone?Comment

ummmmmm what not sure we resigned hanners on a five year extension when he was in top flight just a quick re read of that article "SYDNEY has signed superstar onballer Daniel Hannebery to a mega five-year contract extension." and scroll down abit on the article "Melbourne-based clubs were keen to try and tempt the Xavier College product back home to Victoria next year, with advances worth more than $800,000 per season." so ummmmm i mean maybe he loves the swans so much he left some money on the table but i um doubt itComment

Roos desperately need picks for points for Tarryn Thomas and potentially F/S Scott depending on which of three clubs he chooses. After giving Port pick 11 for Polec, they will struggle for 2018 points.Comment
