Heard Eddie on his MMM breakfast show this morning mumble something about only the Northern States are able to draft brothers to play together via their academies. As such, Eddie proposed a brother rule where the bidding works the same as the Father-Son. Luke Darcy duly agreed it was a good idea!
Seeshhh what next???? Mother-Son with AFLW, Father-Daughter etc...
Kevin Bartlett (SEN) was banging on about a Grandfather-Grandson rule earlier this year!

If I remember correctly, as South Melbourne our VFL zones were South/Port Melbourne, Springvale/Noble Park and the Riverina.

Agreed. Their fans were disgusting that night and I've enjoyed their plummet downwards since immensely. Compare the support given by (some) Crows supporters the week Adam missed a game.

What?s he on about anyway? All the non-Northern States will be able to draft brothers through their Next Generation Academies. In fact I suspect it is highly likely that will happen sometime in the future.

But if the ?Eddie Rule? comes in soon, the Swans would be able to draft Matty Lloyd, Jake?s brother, at the next draft. Apparently Matty is showing some impressive form playing for the GWV Rebels in the TAC Cup, so we might be interested!

Ps: On re-reading I see that article is from 2017 (but Matty is draft-eligible this year). Wonder what his form is like this year?

The Swans have expressed interest in Darcy Moore:

Pie's manager in talks with Sydney, other clubs - AFL.com.au

Who knows how much to read into that? As pointed out elsewhere, could just be standard creating a buzz pre-contract talks before re-signing with the Pies.

Thanks Meg, didn't realise Jake had a younger brother playing in the TAC. Would be interesting to know whether he (Matty) has progressed further this year to warrant drafting at year's end. Hope his brother Jake re-signs with us soon!

Also thought you made a pertinent point earlier in this thread, regarding Darryn Cresswell's two sons having the option to join North's NGA or the Swans Academy as potential future F/S. This is in response to those in the media not happy with Nick Blakey nominating the Swans over North and Brisbane as F/S. They've questioned if this is what the Academies are designed for, based on the assumption Nick would've been a gun anyhow just because he's the son of a AFL 300 gamer! With Bailey Scott at Gold Coast being in the same boat, I fear the AFL will make another draft rule amendment with F/S having precedence over Academy selections to appease David King & Co.

On SEN this arvo, Terry Wallace reckoned a 4 year $700k deal should be enough for a club to entice Darcy from Collingwood. Not sure if we have the cap space to accomodate that, as we still have to re-sign Lloyd who could be demanding a $500k+ deal.

Based on the stats from AFL Draft Central, Matty has not played yet this year in the TAC cup. Perhaps injured.

Also KSAS, further to your earlier post there is already a father-daughter rule in the AFLW but it is much less stringent than in the men?s comp. The father needs to have played at least one AFL game for his club for it to have first access to his daughter at the women's draft.

Thanks for correcting me Meg. Wonder if any of Plugger's daughters have any interest joining the Swans Girls Academy!

The Girls Academy is currently only open to 12 and 13-year-old girls so I suspect sadly Plugger?s daughters have missed the opportunity (perhaps not the youngest daughter).

But when they launched the Girls Academy there was a photo of Siarra Bolton, Jordan Davis and Taya and Leni O'Loughlin with their dads Jude, Nick and Michael out on the SCG. So we might have some familiar names to get excited about in the future!

Was there not also a young Kirk involved? I seem to remember reading that he has twin daughters and one of them is involved in the academy.

Think we had a little bit of the west as well, maybe Spotswood?

I think there was in some of the publicity but she wasn?t in the photo/article that I recalled from the Swans site. Also don?t know if any of these girls actually got selected for the academy (and a couple of them might have been too young anyway for the first intake). I?m not aware of any public list of names of the successful applicants. Though I did read that 20 are the younger sisters of boys who are already in the Academy

However there is a photo of the 130 girls currently in the academy in this article if anyone can recognise faces!
