With Reid Melican and Mills in the 22 maybe Naismith
A few youngsters hopefully improving we need to bump a few list cloggers
Ling should be in the 22
Dawson in the 22
Blakey in the 22
If we get another 1st rounded they should play

Got plenty of the pill tonight, but his use of it mirrored so much of this season. Sad to see him at a level so far below how good he was at his best.

Who knows what Ling will be - but he isn't going to likely be ready to walk into the 1st team, especially after missing basically the whole season. With Reid Melican and Mills in the 22 maybe Naismith

I hope so - but only if the deals make sense. Better to tread water for a year than throw the baby out with the bathwater (as I feel Port may well have done in recent years) in terms of the playing list.

Good point. I’m not quite baying for blood but want evidence of a scalpel being taken to our list.Comment

i guess the ? then is who do we target in both free agents available, players on last year of contracts to trade with their respective clubs..
I feel we ahve good youngsters coming in with blakey to be added, so i think adding some early to mid 20's players will help..
there is no real big fish available..
we need some genuine TALENT players its ok to be blue collar, but sometimes you need that little bit of flair a rioli type etc
I wuoldnt mind us having a go at Mitch Wallis, Maybe Nathan freeman (his body holding up i know but great talent.. )
Jimmy Toumpas perhaps... Talent just been at 2 crap clubsComment

This only works if you get rid of the dead wood on our list; can our club do this???i guess the ? then is who do we target in both free agents available, players on last year of contracts to trade with their respective clubs..

It hasn't in the pass; will it get rid of Hannas and Reid??
There are so many examples of players just keep on the list because five years ago they were good.
Why are we keeping both Gundy and Mcviegh?
And AA is also very slowdoof-doof

AFL player tracker from yesterday's game. Buddy recorded the quickest speed at 32.4 kph. The next best was Aliir and Cunningham, equal on 32.0 kph. These speeds were faster than the quickest Giant: Reid at 31.7 kph. This only works if you get rid of the dead wood on our list; can our club do this???

Yes and no. We need the best quality we can buy of course, but we also need some AFL quality depth. Not 'theoretical' depth that turns out to not really be at AFL standard. So we probably need a bit of both to be honest and to move forward."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

No to Freeman - we have enough permanent sick notes at the club already.i guess the ? then is who do we target in both free agents available, players on last year of contracts to trade with their respective clubs..

I don't think Aliir is slow, but I think he is slow to react in terms of his second efforts when the first attempt at possession is not effective - he needs to hugely improve that part of his game. This only works if you get rid of the dead wood on our list; can our club do this???

I can understand why we are keeping Grundy and McVeigh, though I'm not convinced at all with a fit list Grundy will play much next year. But I do think we should look to regenerate the list a bit - Hannebrey and Rohan are two I would see as players that could be moved on (I hate to use that term as it sounds so cold - but you get what I mean). Reid has too much to offer when he is fit - I would only shift him if we had an obvious, more fit player to play his role. And I don't think we do, nor will we have the currency to get one in the trade period."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment
