We've won the past 14 games against the Suns, the last loss coming way back in 2013 I think the streak will be broken on Saturday.

I think so! Lots of injuries, plus NT has gone better than expected in the under 18 champs so the in form academy players have been kept in the academy team. And the in form academy players like bailey Stewart have gone in to the academy side.
At this time of the year the academy team is preferenced over neafl to maximise the result and to give the academy kids the best chance of making allies.Comment

NEAFL 2016 Round 4
Gold Coast Suns Reserves v Sydney Swans Reserves @ Fankhauser Reserve
Saturday 26th April 2018
11:00am
Fankhauser Reserve
The start of the 2018 NEAFL season hasn't been a great one for the Swans, with 2 losses resulting in the team lying in the unfamiliar position of 8th and out of the finals places. With a tougher draw this year (more games against other AFL Reserves sides), another loss here to the resurgent Suns under new coach Nic Malceski would be extremely harmful to the side's perfect record of having played in the finals of all 7 NEAFL seasons thus far.
Both sides are coming off a big loss to the reigning premiers the Lions. In Round 2, the Swans were actually leading at half time but a second half fade out (co-inciding with the live stream fading out) resulted in one of our heavier NEAFL losses for some time. The Suns were never in the game in their Round 3 clash with Brisbane, with the bigger and more experienced Lions bodies too big of a hurdle to overcome.

Team List
Listed players
Changes
In: Newman, Aliir
Out: James BELL (injured), Robbie FOX (seniors), Harrison MARSH (seniors), Ben RONKE (seniors)
12 listed players but at least one will be traveling emergency at Geelong. It probably won't be Aliir given his lack of game time so far this year, and the coaches would also be keen to see more of McCartin in action.
The midfield is looking little bare with the usual suspects Robinson, Foote, Fox and Marsh not available. Although Newman has been named at half back, in recent NEAFL games he has played as an onballer and it is hard to see him not doing so in this game. Rose and Brown are the other likely candidates, with Styles and O'Riordan also possibilties. It will be an important game for Rose in particular, who with 3 years of AFL experience at the club really should be pushing for a place in the side, particularly one that is currently lacking forwards. The fact he hasn't even been named as an emergency is a poor reflection of his status in the pecking order.
Eyes will be focused on young tall forwards McCartin and Amartey as well as ruck-forward Cameron with the uncertainty surrounding the length of Franklin's injury and the long term nature of Reid's
Academy Players/Topups
In: Frangos, Loone, Parker, Rogers, Shumack, Soffe
Out: Tom MEACHAM (Academy), Luke SKRIVANIC (omitted), Bailey STEWART (Academy), Kyle VEERHUIS (Academy)

Gold Coast Suns Reserves (listed players in bold)
In: Brodie, Brumley, Mills, Sansbury
Out: Kade KOLODJASHNIJ, Harrison WIGG, Timakoi BOWIE
The two dominant players of the Suns' first 3 games Jesse Lonergan and Michael Barlow are now both in their senior team. Aaron Hall was dropped due to his lack of defensive effort and is their most experienced player. Along with youngsters Ah Chee, Brodie and Scheer, all of whom have AFL experience, they make up a strong Gold Coast midfield
It is Crossley's first year on the Suns list but has played NEAFL football for them for a couple of years now as a topup and will be a worthy foe for Cameron in the ruck.
Charlie Ballard, selected at pick 42 in last year's draft was drafted as an athletic wingman, but standing at 195cm the Suns have been using him up forward with success.
Leep an eye out for former North Melbourne forward Eddie Sansbury, who will line up at full forward for the Suns.Last edited by ugg; 27 April 2018, 02:50 PM.Comment

O?Riordan is the traveling emergency so obviously won?t play in this game.Comment

It has been unfortunate that the reserves have had two byes already. I'll be very interested to see what role Aliir plays today - a 70/30 split back/ruck would be ideal.Comment

Looks like Newman is also traveling emergency
Out: O'Riordan, Newman
In: Sincock, StanfordComment

Aliir playing forward, and Amartey in the midfield.Comment

McCartin with two very strong early marks. The kicks were not so good but gee he looks promising!Comment

These two commentators really are very good compared to those who typically commentate the Sydney located games. I know a similar comment was made two weeks ago during the first half of the Lions game, but it really is a pleasure to listen to two people who've done their research on the players and who then just call the game as it unfolds.Comment

McCartin very involved early with some strong marking, unfortunately undid some of his good work with poor kickingComment

Gee McCartin is an impressive young kid - like what I am seeing!"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Two travelling emergencies?? Must be some doubt on at least 1 player.
McCartin 4 marks already
Make that 5 marks - another strong mark! Missed the goal from 30 out though...Comment

McCartin looks like he's really not sure what he's doing lining up for set shots. That's a shame because everything else about his game in the first quarter was excellent (including his field kicking that, albeit on a small sample, looks fine).Comment
