I just heard from an impeccable source that Joe Daniher will not be coming to us in 2020. But....never say never.

I posted this in the wrong thread on 31 August. The impeccable source.....his mum. My son knows her and asked the question....is Joe going to the Swans. "no truth to the rumours. But never, say never."

Now confirmed by his dad. So much for the story that he told friends and family he is going to the Swans.

But then again things can change quickly.

Sounds like the Danihers want the swans to up their offer

Unfortunately at Richmond, he had no mates, he wa an overpriced outsider who displaced popular teammates. So his time at the Tigers was very unsuccessful.
He ended up playing for North Shore in Sydney for many years, also coaching and umpiring.

We celebrate the trade because what the Swans got our of the deal, but Richmond lost out in three ways, 1, In what they had to give up to get him. 2 In the team disharmony that resulted and 3. When there expensive recruit departed.

It's a illustration of how a club needs to consider all aspects of a trade. A perspective that some of the more trade-happy RWOers who sometimes seem to propose trades as if they are swapping football cards or fiddling around with their SuperCoach team.
          Great post!

Exactly, and the Swans seemed to background journalists last week that they wouldn't give up pick 4 but could find another way. It was hard to see how. Essendon would have been heavily criticised by its supporters if they didn't get at least pick 4.

It would be cheaper for us to get him as a RFA next year. I wonder if the infamous meeting was in preparation for that rather than a trade this year (a la Buddy)

I certainly hope so. The club should take a punt and wait till next year to get him as a RFA.

Does not fill a 2020 need, wait and look again next year if Joe still wants out AND he's fit again!

from their mistakes and fly in a few baristas (and while they are at it some graffiti artists) from Melbourne and try and

Why do you think Swans have started playing pre-season games at Henson Park? It's all about Coffee Alchemy in Marrickville.

Of course, I should have realised. I thought it was about the craft beer trail thru Marrickville (Batch, Sauce, Grifter, Stockade etc)….

Grifter is love. Grifter is life.

When, of IF, Donald Trump leaves office, he could have a bright future as a footy journo. Maybe he was cozying up to Scott Morrison anticipating that he may have to ask for political asylum.

The wheels are turning. I've got my team working on a new project starring Donald Trump and Eddie McGuire:
Footy Show Apprentice. The contestants will try to get through the entire show only telling lies and racist slurs.
Anthony Daniher saying that Joe isn't leaving really doesn't mean much at all. What's he supposed to say; yeah, Joes still thinking of joining the Swans? It's just like saying that a coach isn't going to be sacked.

I hope it is accurate though.

I just heard on TV that one of our young gun Academy prospects, Braden Campbell, was Best on Ground in the U18s elites match played at the MCG this morning. A good sign although this means his trade value is rising.

Good news for us Swans fans, in the Futures curtain raiser today. Playing for Team Brown, academy player Braeden Campbell was awarded the medal for BOG. While Errol Gulden was the leading possession getter for Team Dal Santo.

Campbell looked very classy. He scored three goals, moved smoothly through traffic and hit targets with long kicks. There was a touch of Lachie Whitfield about his performance. He may have even grown a centimetre or two, since the start of the season.

While Gulden was very busy with 19 disposals, a goal, and I think the commentator said, 9 tackles. With his sort of retro haircut, increasingly developing biceps, hard tackling and in-under attack on the ball, he's starting to remind me of Swans legend, Paul Kelly. Big wrap, I know; but I think there's some sort of chance that he'll live up to it.

That's great news on both players. We will need a few points to cover both next year.
