I think its to encourage them not to do the trade that GCS want (which would involve giving up the pick 9 we want for the Daniher deal)

I'll be severely annoyed if we pay overs for Daniher and get unders for Papley & Jones. We should have been trying to get Jones to agree to going to Essendon as part of that deal rather than take unders from Saints who bit off more than they could get done.

I still would like to keep Papley after watching a highlights reel of Taylor. Both of them running around in our mids / forward line would be great!

Forget Daniher for the year please KB.

St Kilda just traded picks 10, 58, future 2nd, future 4th and Blake Acres for Bradley Hill.

Which means they don't have much left for Jones, it could all hinge on what they get for Josh Bruce.

I wouldn't be surprised if the reason the Swans officials are reportedly at Jones' house is it sounds like the Bruce to Dogs deal is bogged down, and if it don't happen, not sure Jones gets done.

It may be as simple as saying to Zac: stay one more year please and we promise to trade you next year.

(By the way, as someone who rates Jones for his oomph and dare more than most, I wouldn't be upset.)

Freo's future 3rd came back. If we do end up doing a deal with Jones, I want that pick as part of it for next year

                By Sam McClure

Swans list manager Kinnear Beatson wouldn't be drawn into speculation about the specific negotiations with Essendon over Joe Daniher, but claimed the Swans didn't owe it to the tall forward to get the trade done.

"No, you don't owe anyone anything, mate, they're professional footballers with contracts.

We need midfielder not another useless forward.
Bit harsh. Maybe a heated moment on a tense day. I don't think we have any "useless" forward. Mind, you do take me back to the Jesse White days.

Nice retort by KB, stick that up your ***** Melbourne media who were hanging it on us to get a deal done at any cost.

Jones situation is interesting, we're either asking for another year from him or getting him to go to Essendon as part of the Daniher deal which I like.

Carlton being made to sit tight until we say yes or no on Papley.

Yes 32 plus a future 3rd rounder might be enough for Jones?

KB has said a player won't be involved in the #DaniherDeal, so I don't think Jones is going to go to Essendon. I don't know if there would be other suitors. He's out of contract but we could redraft him in the PSD before the Saints, if we wanted to meet his salary demands. Surely he'll get there eventually tonight?

If he goes, I'd take that. Crucial for next year.

Saints have only 76 and 82 and 2020 3rd round tied to Freo. Basically bankrupt unless they can unload Bruce and the want both Butler and Jones. They have lost Acres and Steven and brought in Hill, Howard and Ryder. Not going to climb far up the ladder next year I think and no youngsters coming in except the lucky dip at the end of the draft.

Suns have stated if they don't get a fair deal for Jack Martin they will redraft him in the PSD. Great that they look like they're through with being preyed upon by Vic clubs and dudded for want away players.

With their off season recruiting and the draft haul Martin may actually find he enjoys it up there next year!

The wait on Daniher is killing me

I reckon that one of those late picks would be enough for Butler. And we'll want the Bruce 32 and a future something. Perhaps the Dogs will send something future with their 32 to the Saints?

                                Sam Landsberger ????

Sam Power strong that the Bulldogs will secure Alex Keath and Josh Bruce in the next 200 minutes. But Adelaide “not real confident” Keath will get done and say he could return, while St Kilda adamant Bruce could stay.
