Where did you hear about swans officials being at Jones’ house ?I wouldn't be surprised if the reason the Swans officials are reportedly at Jones' house is it sounds like the Bruce to Dogs deal is bogged down, and if it don't happen, not sure Jones gets done.
It may be as simple as saying to Zac: stay one more year please and we promise to trade you next year.
(By the way, as someone who rates Jones for his oomph and dare more than most, I wouldn't be upset.)

There's more to Daniher wanting out than has been revealed. We may have a stronger bargaining position than the media keep saying. Pick 9 and next years first might be very tempting for Dodo if he knows Daniher really doesn't want to be there next year. We can hope can't we.A couple of pebbles tumbling the Essendon slope...

There's one other reason we should hold Paps and Jones if we don't get a decent deal and that is leverage and flexibility next year.
It allows us to do pursue paths, depending on circumstances:
* If Daniher doesn't get done this year and nominates us as RFA next year but Essendon match, we will still need to do a trade
* If that isn't an issue, it allows us to get big points with the Academy kids and potentially get either an extra high pick the draft, or another player we might target as salary cap space keeps opening up'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

With respect to Cooney, that is rubbish. Daniher is a contracted Essendon player. He would have known there was a chance a trade might not happen. Dodoro doesn't have to do anything re asking Joe if he is happy to stay, and even if he did, there's no reason to wait until 15 minutes before the deadline to make that happen. If Joe doesn't want to be at Essendon next year under any circumstances, he can forgo his contracted $900k (reported) for the year and spend the year fishing. And then go into the draft the following year.A couple of pebbles tumbling the Essendon slope...

You can substitute Daniher's name for Papley's in the above. Except that Papley doesn't have the option of entering the draft the following year (unless he is delisted) and I daresay isn't on quite $900k pa. Beatson's observation that these are contracted professionals, not souls to whom obligations are owed, was spot on. In both cases.Comment

I think JD asking to be traded to Sydney means he doesn't want to be at the Bombers next year. He didn't say (a la Papley) he'd like to be traded if a trade could be facilitated, he wants to get out. If he still wants to leave in 12 months, then he could probably get to the Swans in the PSD if they choose to match our offer. Dodo knows all this. There's a fair bit of bluffing going on.There's more to Daniher wanting out than has been revealed. We may have a stronger bargaining position than the media keep saying. The quote about getting JD to "fall back in love with" EFC came from Dodo too, I believe. Which is further proof of some level of disenchantment from JD. And as you say, Mw, you don't ask to be traded if you're happy where you are.All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)

Better put a link to the source on that, per RWO rules.'You don't owe anyone anything, mate'
By Sam McClure
Swans list manager Kinnear Beatson wouldn't be drawn into speculation about the specific negotiations with Essendon over Joe Daniher, but claimed the Swans didn't owe it to the tall forward to get the trade done.
"No, you don't owe anyone anything, mate, they're professional footballers with contracts.
"We're within our rights to do what we do and so are Essendon, and we respect each other."Comment
