Daniher is a risk....One worth taking IMO, but at the right price....Pick 5 on it's own is overs, but probably acceptable...But no more than that.
If Papley goes, I'd be offering pick 9 or wait till next year.
I'm with you, I'd like to see us bring in a couple of strong inside bulls. We should be looking at clubs who have strong midfielders and see what they have in there 2's...Ala KennedyWhenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Reported Essendon interested in Mason Cox, overnight Dododoro says definitely untrue, this morning the reporter says 1000% true.
Dododoro annoyed that the news broke because it shows they are looking for a Daniher replacement meaning they fully expect he is going. Weakens Essendon's bargaining position. We must not cave in on this!
I ilke your Kurt Daniher Annie :-)Comment

I'm OK with us not making the finals for another year. Let's face it, we aren't going to win in 2020. Besides, the club should be stronger
than needing to have a quick fix just because we miss the finals for the first time in a decade. But if we can turn pick 5 into
"a Tim Taranto" in a few years, and whatever we get for Papley into "another Jordan Dawson" around the same time (I'm a huge
fan of players who can kick properly), I think we're going to be a whole lot more competitive than we would with Joe Daniher
playing 12-15 games every second season, getting paid double what he should be.
I get that it's complimentary that a player wants to come to Sydney at this time when we have two regulars in the side saying
they don't want to play with us anymore, but I think we should go with the percentages and get players that can stay on the park.Comment

The Swans impending recruitment of JD must be contingent on a strong medical opinion that he will return to full fitness. If we can get him on the park regularly, he's potentially the best forward in the competition.
There are risks/pressures on both sides: If we wait a year to see if he recovers and we can get him for "nothing", there's a strong risk he'll rediscover his love for Essendon and won't want to come. If we get him now, he'll cost more and there's a risk he'll not return to 100% fitness.
But if Bombers were that convinced they could change his mind, they would put a ridiculous price on his head and back themselves. Either that or they think he's their Hannebery and are playing their cards extremely well!Comment

I think our (Harley's) pursuit of Daniher, is within keeping of what goes on with alot of CEOs. They are generally egotistical types and risk takers, who like to play a big game for big results. They are also big on leaving a legacy.
This is Harley's big play, high risk, high reward. He wants to be remembered as the guy who took a big gamble that effectively won us a premiership.
I worry that the opposite will be the case.........Comment

The Tim Kelly to West Coast trade has been announced. West Coast will give 14, 24, 33 and their future 1st round pick in return for Kelly, 57 and Geelong's future 3rd round pick.
Geelong now has 14, 17, 24, 33, 36 and you would expect one of the latter 2 picks to be exchanged to St Kilda for Jack Steven which would then probably be offered to us for Zak Jones.Comment

Because the AFL have a rule (whose interpretation seems to keep morphing) that says you have to use at least one first round pick in a 4 year span.
