2019 trading, drafting and list management: players and personnel
Why is there still speculation on Paps. Thought it was done and dusted he is staying.
The only thing that will stop the speculation is for Papley makes a public statement about how thrilled he is to be with Swans for at least another 4 years. But even this won't stop Sam McClure.

Yes and this hasn't happened. All that has been said is that he is contracted and didn't ask for a trade at his exit interview. Anyone who thinks that there hasn't been any enquiries or testing of the waters is a touch naive. There has been smoke that will either fizzle out or will turn into fire.
Odds are that he is staying. My best guess is that this is very difficult for Paps as he loves the club, the environment, and his teammates. On the other hand, he has reason to be in Melbourne. It's win/win for him. Therefore, he'll only be traded if it is also an excellent outcome for the Swans.
The Papley trade should be put to bed, I doubt there was ever anything in it, just a media beat up.
But to keep it going, Carlton's pick 8 will probably end up pick 10. Gold Coast almost certain to get a PP so they can draft good mates Rowell and Anderson, and GWS will match for Green bid on at 3/4/5 with later picks.

Pray tell....what is that reason? I speculated on this the other day and was lightly berated.

Well I don’t pretend to know the ins and outs of Tom’s personal life but as I understand it, the love of his life lives there. People are welcome to berate me too if that helps them feel better. Maybe they can argue that his girlfriend should move to Sydney thus removing that reason. However, at this point she lives in Melbourne.
Ok... next question. More people seem to think that Zac Jones is going to St Kilda. IF that ends up being true, how does it get done given that the saints aren’t giving us Pick 5 and their next pick isn’t until the 50s? Is it as simple as them using 2020 picks or do you want a player in return? Dunstan or Acres would soften the blow for me.

A 2020 pick would have some attraction for us, given that we are likely to have to match bids for academy players, Errol Gulden and Braeden Campbell. The few opinions that I've heard, suggest that Gulden is a top ten pick and that Campbell is not far behind. While a lot of things can happen in the meantime, I agree with that; even going as far as saying that Gulden should be top five.

Only kidding, but he won me back in the last game. It's clear he bleeds red and white with no black.

I'd be going future picks for sure. Otherwise a three way swap with another club. Jack Stevens to Geelong, Jones to Saints, Constable + future pick to us? That could work.
