Is it as simple as them using 2020 picks or do you want a player in return? Dunstan or Acres would soften the blow for me.
They could split pick 5 for two end of first rounders. One for Jones and the other for Hill

There are just so many balls in the air at present for just about every team, juggling picks, future picks, every club will be working on multiple scenarios with what you think you can do suddenly affected by what other teams actually do.

St.Kilda seems to be in a lot of player movement discussions but are almost bereft of useful picks. Remember they can only use either next years first, say 8/9 OR second and third picks say 26/27, 44/45 so not a lot of wriggle room there.

After last years splitting of the first round and subsequent rounds into two nights it was obvious pick 19 was more valuable than 16/17/18, Brisbane have it.

Picks will all push out one if GC as expected is given the PP and GWS taking Green very early using later picks will push them out another. So our pick 4 could end up pick 6, Saints pick 5 out to 7 etc.

So I asked myself: Why does Hawthorn deserve a rule waiver?

I guess the statement It's there for the clubs who might recklessly do it refers to the Swans. No doubt the swans would incur a trade ban just for requesting the waiver.

It's comical how some clubs are exempt from the rules, while othesr are penalized for non-existent rules or rules not broken. Someone should make a list of the new rules implemented specifically to restrict the Swans.

Talk about a fair competition. What a joke!
The AFL website have an article on this: First-round pick rule: How is your club placed?

"The Cats are the only club in the competition that must use its 2019 first-round selection. They also can't trade their top 2020 choice in this year's NAB AFL Trade Period."

"Every other club has met the four-year requirement of using at least two selections, including Collingwood, Hawthorn, Melbourne and West Coast, which all managed the bare minimum."

Fun fact: North Melbourne and Sydney are the only clubs that have drafted exactly one player in the first round in each of the years 2015 to 2018.

Only kidding, but he won me back in the last game. It's clear he bleeds red and white with no black.

I'd be going future picks for sure. Otherwise a three way swap with another club. Jack Stevens to Geelong, Jones to Saints, Constable + future pick to us? That could work.
I would happily take Hanneberry back for Jones lol

However, at this point she lives in Melbourne.
Oh, I thought it was a case of his girlfriend was with him in Sydney and wanted to return to Melbourne. In that case, I wish she'd just move to Sydney.....I know that's easy for me to say but surely, if she has a career, the Swans could arrange something that suits her in Sydney. Besides, it's not forever....but her family and friends in Melbourne and all that.....it's a tough one.

Anyway, it's entirely up to the both of them I suppose......and we can only hope it goes the way that makes everyone happy.

That would be a fantastic trade for us if we were able land Constable! He'd be the perfect replacement for Joey and has 10 years or more of good football ahead of him!

That was Gold Coast doing the trade, no other team was giving up a single figure pick for Weller or a similar player let alone pick 2. Was one of, if not the worst, most lopsided trade in history.

Gold Coast also did the most lopsided pick swaps last year and the year before, almost jaw droppingly stupid pick swaps.

Hill will get done but not for a single figure pick.

He's contracted for another 2 years, is coming off his best season and is arguably the best wingman in the game. Freo will demand overs, otherwise the trade won't happen.

A few RWO contributes have judged Cody Hirst as a delist. I hope this doesn't happen.
He has improved massively since being drafted midseason, especially if you take into account he hasn't had the benefit of a full preseason and had to adjust to professional footy on the run.
He has electric pace, accurate kick and definitely can sniff out a goal. Dare I say, I sense a little bit of Paps in the way he goes about his work. By the looks of him, he has even managed to put a bit of bulk onto his frame.
His numbers are not huge yet but what he does is quality and given some time, hopefully will be racking up some decent numbers.
Imagine if a good number of Hirst, Ling, Stoddart, Foote and McInerney come good - we will be the fastest team in the league!

And Saints have already played their cards by saying the offer is for 900k, all the pressure is on them. Not negotiating from a position of power

I think the Saints will be offering all sorts of combinations of players and picks, both current and future, in the hope of buying their way out of their hole. It's like they couldn't be arsed to develop players. My prediction: they will still be ???? in 2020!

Just heard Sam Maclure give his trade update on Whately's SEN morning show. Upon missing out on Conigilo, Carlton are going hard after Jack Martin and reckons Papely is still on their radar despite being contracted for another 4 years. He's reasoning that Papely wants to return to Victoria for personal reasons and even though he hasn't requested a trade coupled with the Swans saying he's not for sale, will only drive his price up even further! Sam is convinced the Swans are targeting Joe Daniher with their pick 4 and that Essendon will be open to trading him.

I think neither will happen and that Sam is trying to keep alive the the Carlton - Papley speculation against all the factual evidence to the contrary. I can see us chasing Joe Daniher next year when we could get him for nothing as a RFA, so it doesn't make sense why we would waste a number 4 pick to get him now.

Pick 20 for Joey, nothing more.

Agree 100%. The only situations where you would go hard are:
                                1) Closing premiership window and he is the missing piece in the puzzle (no)
                                2) Had a cracking season and we can't wait (no)
                                3) Buddy retiring due to injuries (unlikely, hope not)
If bombers happy to accept less, then sure, worth considering but please not pick 4!
