Really disappointed by this decision from Paps.....once a died in the wool Blood.....now thinking with his groin.
If I'm the Swans....he's not going anywhere next year and Daniher stays at Essendon, to be recruited by us next year as a free agent and we play real hardball with Paps. Real hardball....Comment

Still doesn’t include any quotes from Papley and zero new information. He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

I agree. Unless there's something we don't know, or we get a ridiculous offer like Carlton's first rounders this year and next, we should hold Papley to his contract and then cash him in for a decent pick at the end, or a year before the end, of his contract. There don't appear to be any compelling reasons to release him on compassionate grounds. It just suits him to 'go home' after he chose to sign a 4 year deal with us.Last edited by bloodspirit; 30 September 2019, 10:52 AM.All opinions are not equal. News Corp has suggested Greater Western Sydney spearhead Jeremy Cameron could be wrenched out of the Giants at the end of next year after being "embarrassed" by the club's Grand Final showing on Sunday. This is despite Cameron insisting he and his teammates are "very tight", they "help each other a lot away from football" and are "better people because of that".
Forget Daniher
Incidentally, why would the Granny result influence Cameron's "gettability"? It was one game. The more important thing is that they made the Granny. If it does make him more gettable, don't think it says much about him.All opinions are not equal. I love people questioning and challenging those in the media breaking the story. Don’t shoot the messenger people.
Papley wants out. That is a fact.
I’m now looking for the club to display some balls and either hold him to his contract or demand something crazy like Essendon is doing with Daniher. Carlton’s first round pick this year and next would do it.Comment

Wow! Massive amount of assistance offered to the Suns: Draft bonanza: Suns get top picks, second-rounder, Darwin zone, more - AFL.com.au. 4 top 20 picks (2 this year and another two next) including this year's #1 pick. Plus the ability to rookie up to 10 players and an expanded Academy zone and the ability to trade out these players for more picks! The AFL really want the Suns to succeed. All opinions are not equal. I now think Carlton planted the seed in Papley's head to return to Vic (he's not a Melburnian). This is because Papley was happy to agree to 3 year trigger contract extension when he was already in long term relationship with his Melb girlfriend (assuming this is the "family reason"). Carlton have seen this as opportunity to throw big $$$$ in attempt to lure him out......which seems to be having an affect. My hatred for them is resurfacing like how they did similar poaching Rhys-Jones and Berine Evans away from us. Gutted if we lose him, even if we get 2 x 1st rounders because I see him as a heart & soul of the club with his playing passion/talent and Swans lineage. I also fear if we let him go, Melb clubs will think any player on our list is gettable no matter length of contract.Comment

Also it was pointed out to me that the picks for next year and the year after can be taken away after being reviewed. Which means that it gives GC more incentive to trade the picks before they could be taken away.Comment
