My feeling is that there is a love triangle between Papley, Will Hayward and Ollie Florent. They've all extended their contracts long term to show that they're not letting go. But Tom may be feeling that he's the odd man out and is ready to throw in the towel now.
I think Paps was annoyed that Will and Ollie went on holiday together last year. I didn't realise until now just how much Will and Paps have been photographed together.
I wish I still had contact with The Chicken Boys from Tassie (originally from Sydney), a love triangle that managed to work out, as difficult as these things can be.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

So only 6 players no longer with us for 2020 and jones still seems likely to move back to melb and we might not match an offer same again for Cameron ?
1. Macca
2. Smithy
3. Reg
4. Jack
5. Rose
6. Tucker
7. Jones ?
8. Cameron?
Does everyone think that is it re delistings ?
For me I dont see pick pick 5/6 better in this years draft better then say Daniher plus also going hard for a 3rd year midfielder at another club we think will be a 10yr player. For me that is a way better combo for our team and trajectory of jumping up to knocking on the top8 in 2020.
I think this is a much better deal for us all round and would be genius to go hard at a player like a Jye Caldwell where the $ aren’t there next year due to sal cap issues for gws
——-
Swans team 2020 something like :
FB: Oriordan, Rampe, Lloyd
HB: Mills, AA, Dawson
C: Florent, Kennedy, Rowbottom
R: Naismith, Parker, Hewett
HF: Hayward, Reid, Blakey
FF: Heeney, Franklin, Papley?
INT:
19. McCartin
20. Fox
21. Cunningham
22. Clarke
23. Ronke
24. Sinclair
25. McInerney
26. Ling
27. Stoddart
28. Melican
29. Foot
30. Amartey
31. Pink
32. Menzel
33. Thurlow
34. Pick5 or split in a Daniher deal ie with Freeo for pick 7 and pick 26 that they hold we give picks 5 and jones pick 31 (saints) in exchange ie same pts value
35. Pick25 we still have to use
36. Daniher give our pick 7 from Freeo ?
37. Riley Knight for pick 51
38. Bennell?
39. Pick26 trade for a emerging midfielder at another club ie bundle our picks 42,59,60 as well to get that player that is considered better then our pick 5 in this years draft plus we got Daniher without giving away the house
40. Oconnor
41. Reynolds
42. Knoll?
43. McLean?
44. Wicks?
45. Maibaum?
46. Hirst?Last edited by Auntie.Gerald; 5 October 2019, 07:02 AM."be tough, only when it gets tough"

We should bid on Greene AND Finn McGuinness . Elite speed and endurance as a midfielder , could be anything . Plus it would be good to make hawthorn pay top dollar in terms of draft points .

Not taking an elitist view but I do feel our team is much better served with Daniher and a serious 20/21/22yr old emerging midfielder from another club vs say a pick 5/6 in the draft that is unlikely to be much better.
For me that should be strategy A and plan B s using pick 5/6 in a weak draft as per Kinnear Beatsons comments
Two serious players for one possible good player at pick 5/6 is my strategy A
Greene will be taken by gws anyway
The top two draft picks this year are miles ahead of picks 5/6 this season in my opinion
if Daniher didn’t live up to expectation due to injury next season ongoing we still have a midfielder hitting the ground running in our 2020 best 22 and seriously having impact
But the upside is x 2 ie if Daniher does go back to 45-65 goals per season plus we recruit a Jye Caldwell type player they are both influencing our best 22 now, providing us a much better competitive squad which is absolutely critical to increasing our win loss ratio and ladder status
We can not stay between 10th and 15th again next season. That would be ridiculously weak rebuilding of our squad and terrible for our capacity to negotiate sponsorship etc"be tough, only when it gets tough"

By bidding on these 2 guys:
a) We might actually get them
b) If not, we actually limit the ability of GWS and Hawthorn to draft more talent, talent that either we miss out on, or talent that will hurt us on the field.
Time to stop being good blokes and look out for ourselves.Comment

Will our first choice wingers be Blakey and Rowbottom next year for significant minutes each game ?
Kirky said that we need more speed in the contest and they trailed Florent inside mid last 4 games or so and were happy with the progression
Rowbottom got much more minutes on the wing last few games and the coaches were happy with his ability playing as an outside mid
I think James rowbottom is a starting player now
He is a 10yr type player and looks a couple years ahead in development and also was the sprinter for us on GF day which surprised me
Rowbottom and Blakey use the ball very well for 1st year players and that kick coming in from the wing to inside 50 is crucial
Their second year at the club could be special"be tough, only when it gets tough"

There are usually a few more de-listings after the Trade period finishes so I expect more action in that regard. Who those players are though is difficult to predict.
Still no word on Daniher. If that deal does not go ahead then I would be happy for the Club to go to the draft and bring in talent. I also doubt that they will trade Papley if Daniher does not come as his loss would leave a big hole in our scoring ability which is not great to start with.

Interesting that the story being circulated by #TeamPapley is that he’d be happy to play for any Melbourne club. I wonder if North or anyone else would make us a better offer than pick 9?Comment
