That’s more than WCE paid for Tim Kelly, and they gave a flat no. They can stick it I reckon.

Lewis signing a 3-year deal with the Swans according to Trade Radio. It probably means Papley is about to go.

        The Bombers are idiots.
We will be even bigger idiots if we give into their request....................

I really like this signing. Squizzy could end up being a list clogger but he has talent and could be to us what Lincoln McCarthy became for the lions. Let's hope we can bring the best out of him.

          I like the Taylor signing.
I am also beginning to think that the less Joe Daniher plays the better he gets.

Brisbane small forward Lewis Taylor is set to sign at Sydney for three years.

In a deal that could fast track the moves of Tom Papley to Carlton and potentially even Joe Daniher to Sydney, Taylor has agreed to play at Sydney until the end of 2022. He would be an ideal replacement for wantaway Papley in that crucial small forward role. It could help the Swans permit Papley’s trade request to the Blues and therefore secure Pick No. 9 in return.

Sydney could then beef up their offer and hand Essendon pick 5 and pick 9 for Daniher. But that still might not be enough for the Bombers who are playing hardball and are determined to keep Daniher because of a lack of key forward replacements.

While there is all this talk over the number 9 pick for Papley it seems Carlton want another pick back which seems to be clogging up the trade wheels there. Now that the Lewis trade has been confirmed it signals to Carlton that we are ready to Trade Papley. Some may argue this slightly weakens our trade position there?

It's interesting to compare Patton and Daniher though. Both are incredibly talented key position players who have long and problematic injury records, especially in recent years. Yet somehow the press think that Patton is worth a second-rounder and Daniher is worth more than two top 10 picks. It makes no sense whatsoever.

I was glad to read on the AFL website that "Swans have shut down any discussion over the key duo [Heeney and Blakey]" as part of the deal. That would be madness.

Disappointingly though, I still hear that we might offer more than 5 and 25, which I think is more than a fair offer.
Now they want Blakey and Heeny?
How many more contracted players do they want?
They're just talking through their butts. The whole world knows that they'll have to give us at least six broken down forwards for those two.

Seeing that Dodo wants a ready player, why not give them Paps, (reluctantly, as he wants to go to a Melb club) and maybe pick 25. Both he and JD are contracted and Paps is fit. And a consistent goal scorer, and as we all know, there are question marks re Joe’s fitness. Otherwise just walk away and revisit next year. Essendon were lucky to finish 8th and can’t see them doing much better even with JD playing most of 2020. They will almost certainly lose him after next year anyway! I would rather lose Paps to the Dons than Carlton but would really prefer to keep him to his contract. Let’s not bend over anymore!!

It was Blakey OR Heeney I believe.

I’m glad the Swans shut it down, but the impression I got was not that they were being completely unreasonable. It was more that they were looking at the picks we could offer (eg. 5 & 9) and the draft and saying “we’d rather have a player in exchange than high picks”.

Having said that, if they were asking Heeney or Blakey, I wouldn’t be giving them a first-round pick as well.

It was described as being a “blow” to the Saints. Seriously!

I wish the club would listen to the faithful again, like they did over Wallace vs Roosey.
We DON'T WANT another broken down player, especially when the club he's contracted to are asking serious overs for an injured player that hasn't played for six months.
Why won't the club just tell Kurt Daniher thanks, but no thanks.
                              It's not hard.

I’m with you Annie, but we have to APPEAR to play the game as Joe wants to come to us and we need to respect that- but let’s get him end next year if his body is right.
