Just heard on the trading live feed, according to his manager, that Bennell has spoken to a few Melbourne clubs and may be back down there soon after which something may be announced. Have we dropped the ball there?

Barrett and Cornes are talking about the Swans/Daniher thing now on the live trade feed and are again pushing the line that the Swans instigated everything.....some quotes....."got it into Joe Danihers head that he could get to the Swans" and " through a series of meetings, one very public". Where do they get this crap? A rumour becomes a convenient truth which then becomes the official line. It's infuriating.!

Distinguishes between Kelly and Daniher on basis that the Swans approached Daniher. Not that he knows that; his evidence is 'that's what everyone has been saying about it'.

Except that Harley told Barrett in an interview on day 1 of the trade period that Daniher initiated it. Barrett said at the time, to Harley, that he believed him.

Key quote from this article in Herald Sun that shows Damo should have been drowned at birth. Essendon gave their blessing to the meeting before it happened:

Barrett's a complete flog. Also said 5 & 9 should have been the start of negotiations.

I have a sick feeling in my stomach we are going to be fleeced by Essendon and Carlton by 7.30pm tonight.

Let's see how it pans out but whatever happens members deserve to get an honest account of the entire Daniher saga from Tom Harley.

I say no, because as much as he seems a total knob, Dodoro had a total logic in saying you need to look at the draft and see if you can replace what you lose - and it ain't there.

There is never a draftee in their first year of footy who can replace a mature bodied 25yr old player 100 game player .......especially a full forward / ruckmen !!!!!

Dodo has been rolling out what he thinks is a truism but it’s true for every draft and every draftee

The draftee may become a gem in the future but not for a couple years minimum

No one gets a ready made 108 goal in two seasons FF straight from the draft

Trading is rarely apples for apples

It’s whether the trades are worth while vs the player traded not a trade vs a draftee having impact in year one like a mid 20 yr old player

Not knowing what the Swans are truly thinking makes it impossible for me to predict either way.....but I think your point regarding what's not in the draft, from an Essendon point of view and the fact that I suspect the Swans want to keep pick 5 at all costs, points to it being less likely to happen. This is also what I want.....

I completely agree, but he's right to say without Daniher they don't have a forward line for years. The rest of their KPFs are crap

I reckon Daniher will get done now I think for 5 and 25 and a later pick. Papley has to be 9 straight up no conditions. Jones looks like 32 which is a poor return.
