I'm only a couch expert at list management, but watching the draft last night I was curious why we traded up to pick 38 to get Warner when almost certainly we could've done so with our next (last) pick being 69 as it turned out? Was it an option to draft either Rantall / Bianco with pick 38, Warner with 69 and then only have 2 selections in the Rookie draft (instead of 3)?'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

My understanding is we were only going to have 4 picks, so when the opportunity came to move up we took it... and then bid on the top player on our list, who was Warner. It may well be that he would have been available without trading up. But this way gave us the best opportunity to grab the player we wanted. Even if he was a left-field bolter.Comment

Let's not worry about how Stephens goes at AFL level next year. What's wrong with development. The beauty of the way the Swans have gone about the 'rebuild' is that there are so many young players now in the system seeking senior opportunities. I'm keen on seeing the players like Bell, Stoddart, Ling, McInerney and Foot play well in the NEAFL and earn senior call ups.Comment

What's very interesting about this draft is the number of team who have traded out of 2020.
This is good for us, as we have a few academy prospects, and we may be able to do what GWS did this year and turn 1 first round into 2, by trading into 2020 draft while everyone is trading out.Comment

Looks a great project. Not ready now but the kind of guy who with a some seasons of hard work and high level development could turn into a ripper. Similar size to Dawso but quicker and without the laser guided boot. His highlights are exciting to watch.
Watching NEAFL next year will be really brilliant. I hope a lot of matches get fixtured at Lakeside oval (or as curtain raisers). Looking forward to seeing Ling, Reynolds, Rowles, Bell, McInerney, BOC, Warner etc etc, many of whom we haven't seen that much of. Also possible that if we have a good run with injuries we'll see some of the best 22 pushed down by new recruits. I won't be sorry if Squizzy, Gray and Brand are kept out by better performing teammates. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

Room for 44 plus 3 cat B rookies. Wicks and BOC are Cat B so if you're right we only have 44 listed it seems we have at least two more spots plus another spot either for a cat B or otherwise depending on whether Bell has been promoted or not. How can we still not know? Does the fact his upgrade wasn't published as part of the ND mean that he remains a rookie? Then again I didn't see any rookies upgraded in the ND so perhaps that is published separately????All opinions are not equal. By my reckoning we have 6 cat A rookies (Rowles, Knoll, Amartey, Reynolds, Maibaum, McLean) and two or three cat Bs (Wicks, BOC and maybe Bell) and 35 senior listed players. But my counting of senior listed players is getting up to only about 36 (I'll have to try again more methodically because that can't be right).
Anyway, I suspect this means Bell is being upgraded and we still have a Cat B rookie spot left - which is no good to Aidyn Johnson. AJ may have to wait and see if someone is injured and we want to pick him up as a PSSD rookie, and that may depend on who gets injured and what kind of player they are .All opinions are not equal. I noticed that a couple of other clubs have announced CAT B selections. I'm not sure if that means that we haven't made a selection yet, or that Bell has in fact not been promoted. That would make our senior list count at only 37, so maybe there's still some news to come on this.
I'm not sure if senior spots can be left open until later on. I would imagine there is some cutoff date, but not sure when that might be, especially now with selections being permitted in pre-season and mid season drafts. I'm not up on those rules. Probably the AFL aren't either. They like making them up on the fly .Comment

I just did a re-count and I got 38 senior players plus 6 cat A rookies and 3 cat B rookies (so no promotion for Bell after all). All opinions are not equal.
