Plenty of speed on the Swans now. Don't know where we're going, but we're going to get there fast.

I think Bell is an unfortunate victim of us trying to maximise the use of our rookie list otherwise he might have been promoted. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

No academy players which is a bit dissapointing. I sometimes wonder when you look at them taking someone like Rowles if the academy kids are victims of overexposure to the swans and therefore subject to a much higher standard of scrutiny.
To describe Rowles as a raw prospect is a little bewildering unless it was followed by something saying he only took the game up in the last two years . If he has been playing forever but just shows glimpses of excellence then that to me is not rawness its just inconsistency.Comment

I don't think it makes that much difference to Bell's career. If we don't have a player we think worthy of a Cat B spot, then we might as well leave Bell there and give ourselves a bit of breathing room if there's another player we want to add to the list later on. If Bell is promoted, then our list is locked in for next year.Comment

Rowles highlight package is excellent. Highlights good speed and clean disposal. More impressed watching his than Flanders. Which just demonstrates how little we see of these players as compared to KB and the team!Comment

agree with Josh Kelly for Stephens - seems to move and kick the ball in a very similar manner. Let’s hope he’s somewhere near as goodHe ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

My latest count agrees with yours, Ludwig. In which case I'm back to thinking that Bell has been promoted since 38 is minimum size for senior list. So we have a Cat B rookie spot available but that can't be used for purposes of pre-season or mid-season drafts. We can only bring someone extra in if there is an injury. So not recruiting Aidyn Johnson or Jai Florent at this stage. I wonder if they will keep hanging around training.
As regards Rowles, I agree his highlights package is fantastic and thus I think he just has a higher ceiling than our Academy players. It is not necessarily that he has taken up the game recently but that he has started to shine more recently, and so hasn't had as much exposure to high level development programs like the AFL Academy or the private schools programs and so he hasn't trained, and learned to train, properly. This accounts for the hope that we can improve his endurance and contested work. Then again, maybe we won't be able to sufficiently improve those things, which is why he is a rookie project. But looks well worth it to me.All opinions are not equal. This sort of sounds right, except that would give us 7 Cat A rookies next year, one above the maximum allowed. Maybe it's a Cat B rookie in year 1, which would conform with no announcement about a new Cat B selection.Comment
