When the countdown clock gets below 10 seconds why does it disappear off the TV screen before the end of each quarter? It's most frustrating when trying to determine precisely whether split second incidents like McCartin's goal or Myers mark were legit. My theory is that so the time keepers aren't shown up if they blow the siren a fraction early or late, even though the quarter isn't officially over until the umpire hears the siren & blows whistle (remember siren gate?). I'm most certain the countdown clock shown by the TV broadcaster is the official time keepers clock.Last edited by KSAS; 13 May 2019, 02:08 AM.Comment

I think we should all be watching the hawks game vs gws if we want to learn about flexible game plan, strategy and execution
What a masterful example on the weekend keeping the giants to 6 goals
Unbelievable
Letting omeara be the decoy after 45 disposals the week before then letting him be tagged with 14 disposals this week and have others flood away from the contest
Just awesome
Sicily amazing !!!"be tough, only when it gets tough"

As predicted, Rampe's goal post incident is dominating the media and going up a notch this morning with the following:
- Robbo's article in HS with headline "The Day AFL integrity died" (we all know it died years ago with the Fixturing, Draft, Cola, Trade Ban, Goodsey & 2016 GF).
- Whispers Rampe may yet still face AFL sanctioned fine, despite AFL already have given the incident the all clear. This has given the likes of Eddie & Tom Browne ammunition to say this is proof that Essendon should've been given a free kick and the match. If Rampe were wearing a Collingwood jumper would Eddie be jumping & down about the result?
- They opened up the lines to irate Essendon supporters to further fan the flames wth the Essendon were robbed agenda. Wouldn't be surprised to hear push to award Essendon the 4 points. As someone remarked earlier in this thread, happy with this if the AFL also award us the 2016 GF!Last edited by KSAS; 13 May 2019, 08:23 AM.Comment

Whoops, accidentally posted. I'll continue.
Since there's no mention of Reid, I assume that his injury is only a minor knock. Either that or sloppy journalism.
Also, with all the Rampe controversy, I'm a bit surprised that nobody seems to have asked him, just what he was thinking. Obviously, it wasn't an attempt to shake the goal post, as that would be better achieved with his feet anchored on the ground. Was it just an attempt to distract Myers? Or did he think that a higher starting position, would give him a better chance of getting a hand on the ball? Maybe he just wanted a better view of the kick? Or could he have been wanting to check out the goal post cam? Possibly it was a brief fugue state, and he was only brought back to reality, by the sound of the umpire's girly voice?
Who knows? But I find it slightly odd, that nobody seems to have asked.Comment

Regardless of whether the umpire was entitled to exercise his discretion in that situation, and not award a free kick, the end result was just a free kicked missed (or not). There are dozens of examples of free kicks missed (or dodgy ones given) every single game. How do we go about adjudicating the effect of every possible umpire error that occurs during a game and adjusting the scoreboard results accordingly? Unlike many other arguable errors, this one didn't actually have an effect on the ball going through the big sticks.Comment

Strange Robbo the Bombers supporter didn’t think the AFLs integrity died with their handling of the Essendon drugs thing.
This whole thing is such a storm in a tea cup.
If they want to get hot under the collar about umpiring there’s another game Swans fans would be happy to discuss.Comment

And next time someone brings up our alleged fair weather fans, maybe reference the crowd number (14,639) at the
Hawthorn-GWS game at the "Home Of Football" (the MCG) yesterday. Don't Hawthorn have 70,000 members?
The MCG turnout was barely half the number (26,502) who turned up at the SCG on Friday night.Comment

Wasn't that a thrilling win.
Bloody Ramps... could have bought it all crashing down.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

15k from 70k means the 70k is really a BS number as far as fair-dinkim supporters is concerned. Maybe a lot of them have 4 legs and a tail.Comment

members in Melbourne, to get 26,000 on a cold Friday night when we are 1-and-6 suggests our fans might be a lot
more rusted on & committed than they are down in Hawk-land these days.Comment

Though another possibility, was that he hid his mobile at the top of the padding, because he was planning an American football style celebration. "Hey, Hon, guess what; we won the game!"Comment
