    It's great isn't it!!!!

Happy to see the plastic, arrogant and classless bunch implode. Long may it continue....

He generally seems to play very well against us. I remember him destroying us in a final once.

I thought he was still involved with the club....hopefully the inevitable year end staff cutbacks don't see him cut adrift.

Biggest news out of the game tonight was Jonathan Brown announcing that Papley will be staying! Awesome.

I'd post this in the Elijah Taylor thread but it has been locked for whatever reason ... But Elijah Taylor has been arrested by police. Could of played his last game for the Swans

Let the legalities play out as it's a non a football issue and details of arrest not known as yet. But from a football perspective, disappointing if this turns out to be the case considering he was bestowed with the honour of wearing no. 37 and that Elijah was drafted more or less with the 2nd round pick we got for Zak Jones?

That shuts down that little speculation story. Aa someone said last night, let's hope he get to play off Buddy (and, personally, Daniher) next year

'“There has been a lot of speculation that teams were into him and that he would leave. He will be in Sydney Swans colours going forward [Jonathan Brown said].”

Foxfooty.com.au has confirmed his agent, Winston Rous of Phoenix Management Group, called several clubs last week to inform them of Papley’s decision.'

GWS will go pop quicker than many realise.

They have some young talent in Toranto, Green, Hopper, Ash and Taylor.

But I think it’s forgotten how old they will become very quickly. They’ve got two conked out old rucks, Ward is busted, as is Davis, Cameron is a total enigma, Haynes is almost 29. And some of their role players like De Boer or Keeffe are getting on.

And blokes like Greene, Kelly and Coniglio are 27 next year.

They might yet come good and do something in the next couple of years. But I could also see them fading rapidly.

This is great news! Just heard Tom Morris story being confirmed on radio. Hope Papley sees out his career at the Swans & not just for another 12 months. Interestingly article eluded 3 Vic clubs were into Tom (Carlton, Essendon & Melbourne). I wonder if the covid situation had played a part with Tom's decision?. I was getting sick of hearing endless Carlton supporters on radio talking about getting Papley next year like it was a given!

                        Awesome news.

Now to sign Daniher for free and our forward line is looking strong next year (if they can get on the park)!

If Joe Daniher plays out remaining game injury free, it will be interesting to see how potential suitors like us see his worth in terms of length & worth of contract offer as RFA. After Worsfold's latest comment eluding EFC are now 3 years away from being a top 4 side, how much that may influence Joe's decision to stay or leave after the euphoria of his comeback game?

I think an injury free Joe Daniher is worth 3 x $600k contract in the current covid salary environment (he'll always carry that injury risk tag) and will be valuable to our team, particularly if Tom McCartin becomes permanent key defender.

Our Ruck remains our priority imo with Pruess my preferred target. If hypothetically we do land JD as RFA, wonder if we could orchestrate a trade for Pruess using Sam Reid as Melb do need a Key Forward who may stuggle to get games (noticed Reid wasn't Gerard Healy's best 22 for next year).

                              Agree with all of this.

No reason we shouldn't try and target both Pruess and Daniher. How exciting would it be to land both of them!

Not sure what they would mean for Sammy Reid.

I'd updated my post to inlude Sam Reid as I'd accidently saved it prematurely as you were replying. I've suggested trade involving Sam Reid for Pruess might be feasible, considering they need a key forward & Reid may become an excess with JD even though he's contracted and settled in Sydney with girlfriend/baby.
