LRT would be perfect. Great competitor for us.

Yes ... but dreams can come true ... who do you imagine running around in our midfield?

In my dreams, if we had our full compliment of starting forwards (Buddy, Daniher, McDonald, Papley, Hayward, Wicks), Heeney would be able to spend at least 60% of the time in the midfield and have a season similar to Petracca. Although, I really like Mills playing back, if we had zero injuries, I think he could also play mainly midfield too.

They would be joined by Parker, JPK, Rowbottom, Hewitt, Blakey, Florent, Stephens, McInerney, and Warner. Campbell and Gulden would have stints learning too.

Down back would be Rampe, McCartin, Fox, Dawson, Lloyd, Cunningham, Melican/Brand.

Chris Grant on Schache. Perhaps Buddy and Johnson would help him work on the things highlighted in that article.

For me here is a list of likely delistings:
                ET
                Knoll
                Ling
                Maibaum
                Reynolds
                Rowles
                Stoddart

                And Potential delistings:
                Foot
                Amartey
                Ronke

Any word on Hewett's contract status?

Also I know there would be question marks on Clarke and Thurlow. Clarke stays for mine but I'm unsure on Thurlow

Question marks on Gray and O'Riordan from myself, not sold on their abilities as AFL footballers

I like it and you haven’t even mentioned Gould

I would like to see Isaac spend more time in the midfield. He's bulked up into a solid unit and is a leader of the team. It's time to give him the responsibility of influencing games every week and not just to provide spectacular highlights. With Joey on his last legs, give the batton to Isaac - he's up to the challenge.

                      Trading

I would pass on recruiting Daniher. His history of injury makes his recruitment too risky. Do we really want to be paying a hefty chunk of our salary cap to someone who has only played 15 games in the last three seasons?

If we're trading for players, the priority should be securing an injury-free ruckman who's not playing due to lack of opportunity.

Draft picks are the more likely trade targets. I expect we'll try to secure the equivalent of a mid-second-round pick from somewhere.

                      Draft

If Riley Thilthorpe is still available at our pick (5?), we should draft him because he fills a need: he's a 200cm ruck/KPF. Reid and Franklin are near the end of their careers and our ruck stocks are a little thin.

Campbell and Gulden must be drafted. I expect Campbell to go around pick 10 and Gulden in the early second round.

Another player to consider may be Will Papley, Tom's younger brother. If he's still available when we get to our next pick (may be in the fourth round?) he should be considered. Not so much for his playing quality (though he can be a midfielder), but to help with player retention.

Sorry but I can't agree with this. List spots are too valuable to be given away to an undeserving player. This, I would imagine, would be a quick way to degrade culture. Plus, there are other ways of helping retain a player like helping their best mate relocate to Sydney

anyone below Paps on the Coleman ladder that you would trade into our forward line if the opportunity pooped up for 2021?

Now we are at that point of people trying to rationalise drafting Josh Schache, it's time to close this thread down.

Lacks competitiveness. Is that coachable? I wouldn’t think so.

We have addressed the issue of speed and endurance in midfield through a few draftees over last 3 years
Oli Florent, Justin McInerney, Matt Ling (I think he will come good next year), Dylan Stephens, James Rowbottom
I think these five players will give us the speed we need through the midfield, may be not the height and weight advantage (look what happens to Essendon - they get bullied due to their small size). And add Gulden and Campbell to this list and the speed component is truly taken care of.
We have a good backline - except for missing a very good KPD. Kaiden Brand can only be an insurance policy
Gould is unlikely to be the answer. I think Will Gould could do the role of Lewis Melican but i doubt that he has the agility to do the role on a small forward when there is mismatch in the defensive half.
We need the current era prototype Midfielder - 190 cm 90 kg atleast one of them but someone in the mould of Bontempelli but not Cripps.
We are unlikely to find this prototype in the draft and able to develop him in the next 2 years. Ideally just throw the book and get them from another club.
I am sure Charlie Constable from Geelong would be available since they seem to be interested in Brad Crouch.
Sounds like Joe Daniher may end up in Geelong too. They have the picks and the salary cap for him.
We should target one KPF in the draft and one in trade this year and delist a few of our current lot. Josh Schache may not be a bad choice but mind you he is not getting a game in a team where Josh Bruce is still on the team without doing anything.
