He’s been magnificent this year given the load he had.
Yeah you’re right. Hopefully with a stronger midfield group he can excel even more.

Do you reckon anyone will swap a draft pick for Ronke?. Would be handy to get something for him.

Fourth round at best I would think

Not necessarily. If he has been given enough time to recover, good rehab program and no complications (such as post surgical infection) then he would still be a goer. Just have to make sure we do our due diligence on him if we have the opportunity to take him (and want to of course).

I think the increase of a recurrence of an ACL rupture is about 20% compared to those who have never had the injury. Significant, but not enough to rule out selection.

Ben Ronke will be a good player at another club. With Papley and several other good small forwards at the Swans, it leaves little space for Ronke to develop. He needs to play at AFL level on a regular basis. He's very dedicated, and for this alone, I think he will succeed, but perhaps not at the Swans. If he is traded, he will be a good get for another club.

I see that Paddy McCartin is a free agent looking for a new club. If we don't get Daniher, he could be worth a shot. I was never a big fan, and now he has the concussion risk, but nonetheless, he makes a good target up forward. He wouldn't be very costly. I recall how Shaun Higgins was injured half the time when he played for WB, but has managed to have a long career and now looks that he will be contracted until he is at least 34 yo.

I'd be keen on giving Paddy a chance. A 1-2 year deal would be all that is required and I'm sure he would love the opportunity to play with Tom. Plenty of potential if he can stay on the park.

I wonder why Geelong are not keen though given he's a local junior and they are on the hunt for a key forward?

Would love Paddy McCartin in the side. Would be as cheap as peanuts and nothing as romantic as two brothers playing for the same team.

...and surely he'd at least offer just as much as Reid

This is not a good idea. We need to hold pick 22 to match bids on Campbell and Gulden.

I'm guessing Campbell would be bid on around pick 10-15, and Gulden in the early to mid 20s. That would mean we're about 500 to 1000 points short of matching for both without going into deficit. The last thing we should be doing is trading for fewer points.

We may end up trading out a player or two for draft picks. We will need to make space on the list to draft three players, and we're doing that by delisting or trading. I could see North offering us their pick 25 for two fringe players.

Why oh why would we want Paddy Mccartin ? He’s either had too many head knocks, or just not very good ,or both. He’s shown almost nothing even before the concussions. Only advantage is he costs nothing. So does the leading goal kicker in the local park comp, and they’d probably offer more.

Paddy is a seriously good mark. If he gets a good run at it, he'll be a very good key position forward. Worth looking at if he's available at a low price.

The Dogs don't need to gain many draft points.

They currently hold picks 13, 36, 49. That is a total of 2001 points. To match a bid at pick 1, they need 2400 points, so they are 399 points short. That's about pick 41 (412 points).

They are about 15 points short of matching a bid at pick 2 (2013.6), and they can match a bid at pick 3 with what they have (1787.2).

I expect there will be some side deals made so clubs in need of draft points or picks can pick them up with some live pick trading on draft night, or clubs that don't need picks can offload them. For example, if the Bulldogs trade for picks in anticipation of a bid for U-H at pick 1 but he's not bid on until pick 4, they may have a few hundred points worth of picks that they won't need. On the other hand, North have 11 list spots they will need to fill, and I expect they will be fairly active with live pick trading for other clubs' surplus low picks. In this scenario, the Bulldogs could have 2 or 3 later picks to offload and North could well scoop them up for a token future pick.

Has a year left on his contract and would not cost a lot in picks.
I've never heard of Meek and am intrigued. Please tell us more. Where's he from and what's good about him, apart from his age?

I don’t profess to know too much about Lloyd Meek but he seems a good size with an old fashioned work ethic and if he turns out to be anywhere near as good as a couple of other players we picked up via North Ballarat I would be very happy.
Seems like he could be a pretty good option.
Looks like he has good hands and also showed some good disposal skills by foot in this highlights package.

I would like to see us target constable from Geelong or even Will Brodie from Gold Coast . Both young inside midfielders with size
