Couldn't have done too much wrong, but we have smashed it.
McDonald and Campbell in the bank and we'll pick up Gulden for less than expected.
If they pick up a development ruck with the last pick (subject to who is available), couldn't ask for much more.
I think Aliir being let go (considering he was dropped this year as a 26 yo) in context of what we have seen means that McCartin, Rampe and Melican will be the 3 first choice tall defenders this year. Some will argue Melican's standing, but I don't think we've lost by swapping McCartin for Aliir and McDonald + the other McCartin (if it comes off) for McCartin. The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.Comment

Delighted with our haul, and very excited about McDonald - struggling to think of the last time we drafted a top 10 tall - maybe Ryan Fitzgerald?!
And while we were cursing the Hawks, how often will we get to pick the 4th and 5th best young talent in the country? All very exciting.Comment

I'm thrilled with Logan McDonald - my dream pick for us. It's possible that DGB could turn out to be an even better player but a forward is what we need. Besides which more people rated McDonald so highly than DGB. They both seemed no risk, no fuss. I was more worried about RT or EH. Can someone post a link to this video with Logan's reaction to news of his drafting please?
I can live with Hawthorn bidding for Campbell - just highlights how good our haul is. Given that the bid for Errol didn't come early it hasn't hurt us. I don't think Hawthorn did it to hurt us so much as to help themselves (and also because they genuinely rated Braeden, even though they knew they were never going to get him at pick 5.
I don't know where our next pick is now but I suspect we probably won't use it. We'll keep a bit of extra cap space by using it on a rookie instead. I think we pick either a ruck or another KPF. We could go for Paddy McCartin (perhaps a little less chance now after drafting Logan McDonald). Another option, assuming he's still available could be that big Tasmanian forward whose name is escaping me right now. I don't think he's been taken yet.All opinions are not equal. Jackson Callow's the big Tassie forward I was thinking of. Maybe he'll make it to the rookie draft.
Also, would we have the option of snaffling Matt Kennedy in the rookie draft - or has he already been moved to their rookie draft under the new rules? All opinions are not equal. We're out. Had picks 53 and 54 but have passed. Surplus.
One or two rookies tomorrow. Paddy McCartin? Jackson Callow? A ruck? All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment
