Covid 19 and footy - season (suspended) now resumed
Seems some NRL players are refusing to have flu shots which is causing NSW and Qld health officials and Premiers to wave a big stick at them. Be interesting to see whether it's the NRL or the state governments that back down on this showdown.
Understand the Warriors were only let in after agreeing to the health protocols which included flu shots? Could be a different type of deportation to NZ!
10.47 At common law, all competent adults can consent to and refuse medical treatment. If consent is not established, there may be legal consequences for health professionals.
Looking at the 3 Step plan does it mean that AFL matches cannot be played until Step 3 is introduced because that is when gatherings of 100 people are allowed? If so, seeing as this will be controlled by the states, how can the AFL know when they can start? And what if only some states are in Step 3?
With the 17 game season It will be interesting how they work it as as a home n away season. It gives theoretically 8/9 or 9/8 home n away if we go down the path of FIFO but then it becomes unfair to have some sides with 9 home games and some with 8 so that makes it sound like 8 home, 8 away and one neutral.
It could be they might have to class one game in Melbourne as neutral for say Sydney. For example a neutral game at marvel or kardinia park against Richmond, Collingwood, Hawthorn or Melbourne.
Or possibly say a neutral game against a side at Metricon against a non Queensland club.
This will apply more for non Victorian clubs than Victorian based clubs imo

States will allow exemptions as it’s classed as work. Just like FIFO workers in the mines.
West Coast, Fremantle, Adelaide and Port Adelaide will all be denied home matches for at least the first part of the season under the league’s complex attempt to get the 2020 competition restarted.
But only an abridged fixture detailing the first few rounds of action will be released, giving the AFL flexibility for scheduling in the back half of the season if strict border restrictions in South Australia and Western Australia are eased.
I have no doubt lockdowns will come back with the second wave of infections , which is why a hub approach (all in one location, isolated from the second, third and forth waves) is the only viable way to run a season this year.
Where to host the hub. Well logic would suggest a location which doesn't suffer from winter colds and flu. Ahh maybe south East Queensland??. Who would have thunk it.
