Strangely, it never really showed up on the radar? Every time that I looked, there was a very light band of showers, that was still to the east of Carrara.

Was pathetic, you could tell they were going to lose at half time.

Frees werent the main issue, getting hands on the ball was.

Any chance we could have locked down on Walsh late, killed it on that wing

That was frustrating, but I was more frustrated by how many time our forwards really struggled to put pressure on the defenders too. Papley multiple times got outwitted easily by Plowman which shouldn't happen.

That Joey run down in the last was absurd because there were about 4 swans around him and nobody gave him the shout he was hot.

Love Kennedy but he often is the only person at the ground that doesnt see the chase down tackler

I think it effectively belies an argument the umpiring was one-sided - at the most critical moment, it wasn't.

I wouldn't be taking much comfort by searching for teams more insipid than us.
A "choke" technically, is when you give up a very strong lead, and lose. This is. Choke. And Carlton are rubbish.

I think Clarke was tagging him earlier, not sure about the last quarter. Or ran out of gas.

But FFS, no more Sinclair - please! Dude's a lumbering free kick against. When he gets it, it's a turnover. What's the @@@@ing point. He gets beaten in the air and around the ground every week. Start Aliir in there or play Amartey. Man.
I like Sinclair, but I feel like the end may be coming quickly for him - and I really don't think he is fully fit at the moment either. Looked better (relative term of course) with Aliir in the middle tonight then with Sinclair in there.

We have to find a solution long term for the ruck, or at least start developing a solution. I don't think Knoll is it either. I know a lot don't like the huge risk that going to the draft for a ruckman is, but I think we should try. If only we could magically make Naismith stay fit, as he truly is a very decent tap ruckman when fit, and showed in younger days that he was more than able around the ground. But I reckon his body is no chance of standing up to AFL footy anymore. Doesn't mean we can't keep him on the list for another year and hope - but I think we should go to the well and take a punt in the draft.

We got reamed for the large majority of the night by the umps - I don't think anyone can argue against that. But we got a nice gimme at the end - I knew Taylor would miss though.

As it often is the case in recent years, I really feel our style of footy - well at least that focused around being a good tackling team, is so poorly rewarded by the umpires, as incorrect disposal is dead, teams are allowed to throw the ball at will, and you have to actually it seems take 3 players on before you get called for holding the ball.

                          Umpiring has not been great.
I think that might be the end for Sinkers. Relegated to the bench after being given a spell front and then missing a critical shot. Plus that poor kick into the forward 50 after the ball fell into his hands was a sackable offence. The worst game I’ve seen from him?

You should never lose a game from being 7 goals up! I don't care how much territory and possession they have!

I thought our backline was very good - McCartin, Melican, Lloyd, Fox and Cunningham all played well.

The kids in the midfield were decent - Florent, Rowbottom and McInerney.

Clarke, Sinclair and McLean were total passengers. All need to go.

Papleys defensive efforts were incredibly disappointing.

Reid and JPK aren’t the players they used to be. The end is coming quickly.

                                Positives

McCartin looked comfortable at the back again.
Florent had his best game for a while.
McInerney followed up his RS nom with a solid game, faded a little in the 2nd half.
Hayward was encouraging and I loved his rundown tackles and defensive effort.

The team looked spent in the second half and I couldn't help wonder if that was due to us making no changes for the short break. Surely with another short break we'll see a number of changes for Sunday.
