I've noticed that whenever a journo like Tom Morris or Sam Edmund make a footy comment on a radio/tv show their comment/opinion is then reported on by another journo/article. I find this strange, like they're trying to create news amongst each other as if they're scrapping bottom of the barrel to find something to report on & remain relevant.!

"it's being reported that" being reported by whom - another click bait journo whose "contacts tell me" Give me a break.
Listen to what Parker says about signing, that was never a player being low balled or a player considering leaving. I'd suggest we were offering 3 years at the correct money, Parker wanted 4 years, it just needed for the season to end and free time to become available to nut it out. Parker would not be after money that meant we lost other important OOC players.
Tom Morris' words tonight about Parker re-signing will be watched with interest now he's got egg on his face.Comment

My message was from the very shouty LUKEPARKER. Fantastic news, even if I worry about giving him 4 years.
SEN is reporting (Sam Edmund) that “Sydney is trying to re-sign Luke Parker, Dylan Stephens, Jordan Dawson, Sam Reid, Matthew Ling, Callum Sinclair, Hayden McLean, Ben Ronke and others." I'm surprised at several of those names

We have been very frustrated waiting for news of re signings, but bear in mind, the Swans management were probably hoping to have made it past the Giants with a fair chance of making it past Geelong as well.
It is just our early exit has given us this extra focus on the re-signings.
If we were playing this weekend, a lot of our energy would have been taken up instead re team selections etc.
Re Parker, the “delay” might have been around whether the fourth year was offered or not initially, or whether there was a games trigger for the final year which was finally dropped (just speculation by me).Comment

I will say this: the Melbourne media get ALOT wrong about the Swans. It's partly a function of the club being very tight-lipped about inside baseball stuff (and they should be with things like contract negotiations), a little bit of distance, but it's also a function of a lot of them being lazy.
You see the difference between someone like Caroline Wilson, who takes the time to invest in relationships and trust with people at the Swans and understand sometimes complex things, and someone like Tom, who just scours bigfooty every morning for the latest 'tip' to run with.Comment

You sound a Victorian sports journo....why not think Dawsons next to be signed instead of doom?

That’s a bit disrespectful towards Sam.
I’m sure some of his information is drip fed to him by managers with self interested clients.
In any event Sam gives us all on Red and White something to talk about, debate and theorise on. Without people like Sam, this particular thread would be an extension of the Swans PR department.Disagree by all means but please don't lecture people on social ethics.....

I beg to disagree. We have to sign our priority players first before finalising getting other player deals done. Happens at every club, particularly due to the cap reduction. If we sign Dawson soon then we will see others follow. As you get down in the pecking order there is less of the pie to split up. We clearly saw Parker as the No.1 priority plus there is the PR side of the goings on. I hope we keep Hewett but he may already have been given an offer he can't refuse.
If it's the second followed by the first....then good luck to him.Last edited by stevoswan; 8 September 2021, 05:36 PM.Comment

BS, is it your mission in life to argue against anything that involves traditional footy hatred (which isn't 'real' hatred btw)? To try to re-educate people on fairness and 'decency' and in doing so, just plain annoy people? We are Swans supporters, not a focus group that needs an intervention.Disagree by all means but please don't lecture people on social ethics.....

If he values money over success that is....or has been told already to start seeking opportunities. If it's the second, I'd be sad for him (and us).....if it's the first, he can **** off. I'd highly doubt it's the first....there's no fun in being a rich loser.

It's not reasonable to expect a player to stay for massive unders. I expect if we can come close he'll stay and we won't insult him by offering an insulting offer.
It woudl seem obvious we are prioritising Dawson and the fact we haven't seemed to open any negotiations with George seems to indicate we'll only do so if the Dawson deal falls over and we can offer George a compeitive offer.
As an aside, what is the view of ressies watchers of Gould stepping up next year should Dawson leave?Comment

There's a fundamental right for people to be paid what they are worth, whatever field you work. That said most people can usually get mor eelsewhere and stay for other reasons (success, happiness etc)

I am very hopeful for Gould but don't see him stepping into Dawson's shoes if Dawso leaves. Although they both have big frames and booming kicks, I think they are pretty different players and will be asked to play different roles. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment
