I must admit I didn't believe that the club would give Luke Parker another 4 years, but I'm very happy with the decision. The club has rewarded a true and loyal champion who has put his body on the line and spilt blood time and time again for the Sydney Swans. Cant wait to get back to the SCG and see "Lukey" lead the team out in 2022. Cheers.Comment

That contract should see him become a member of our 300 game club, along with Goodes, Bolton, McVeigh, O'Loughlin and possibly Kennedy.Comment

My message was from the very shouty LUKEPARKER. Fantastic news, even if I worry about giving him 4 years.
SEN is reporting (Sam Edmund) that “Sydney is trying to re-sign Luke Parker, Dylan Stephens, Jordan Dawson, Sam Reid, Matthew Ling, Callum Sinclair, Hayden McLean, Ben Ronke and others." I'm surprised at several of those names

Oh, and by the way, in relation to the earlier Tom Morris story that Dawson was poised to leave which was in contrast to the even earlier Tom Morris story that Dawson was poised to stay.
The chief peddler of the 'Swans are stooging Parker with a two year deal worth four half pennies and a stale can of coke', was none other than Tom Morris.
Amongst the Melbourne media clan due to line up, stick their head in the toilet, and flush again and again and again, Tom needs to be at the front of the queue. And no toilet duck for him.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

A good run with injuries should see him a really good chance to end up outright 2nd on our most games played list. Still fancy he could last a season or two past 2025 too (will still be only just 33 when that contract ends)."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

And oh, Sam was also almost certain Hewitt would be heading to Carlton because contract talks hadn't taken place yet. He went to explain the reason for our tight cap is due to.Buddy $900k next year, Mills & Heeney contracts being heavily back ended to 2023/2022 respectively. He also.queried why we haven't extended McDonald's & Campbell's contracts as yet, when most of last year's top 10 picks have already done so. Thinks that might be another issue looming retaining our yoing guns due to our tight cap.Comment

I wonder if Luke getting something like the deal he had been seeking all along means that they have decided to allow someone else to go elsewhere thus enabling them to find the additional cap money? Another possibility is that someone else has re-negotiated their existing contract to free up some cap space for the next year or two?Comment

And what an annoying prat. The kind of guy you dread getting caught with at a party.
Over on the other side of the coin...... fantastic news re Luke. A Swans legend already. Though I never thought he'd be going anywhere else. He'd look daft in different clobber. It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

I did hear Sam say words to the effect that, the problem this year is that when player managers ring up other clubs to make offers to players to push their deals with their current clubs up, they can't find any clubs willing to do that. It's that blatant that most of the talk about other clubs is a negotiating tactic.
I'd be amazed if we signed every player on the list: Stephens, Reid, Ling, Sinclair and Ronke (which notably omits Hewett). I presume there are some lowball offers being made right now.
Anyway, Parker done, onto Dawson.Comment

To me his constant insidious rumourmongering infers underlying motives. I ask myself what does he have to gain from all this scuttlebutt? Remember when he was crowing about Ben King definitely joining his brother at The Saints? This is not journalism. This is not news.

I don't suspect that applies however for Dawson, Stephens and Hewett. Although I strongly suspect the club made the call quite a while ago that Hewett was going to be the unfortunate definitely out the door."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

i think from what I have seen Ling has the skills like Dawson did in his first few year in ressies etc
Dawson had to build the tank and defensive game and the extra time in a lower pressure env like Ressies and match sim helped tremendously
No doubt Ling maybe encountering a similar trajectory of development
Ling is extremely crafty and quick off the mark
I would keep him if he is up for the challenge at the right price"be tough, only when it gets tough"
