2021 trading, drafting and list management: players and personnel
Adelaide would send the Swans the Dees' future 1st they got y'day. Then Syd and Adel swap their own future first and future second round picks. The Swans like this deal, but the ball is in the Crows' court. Swans have also floated Dawson & 12 for 4.
Which makes it very unlikely the Crows will agree to either... But at least something is happening. Maybe the future pick swap could be the basis for an actual trade (for example taking out the swap of second rounders). We'd REALLY want to finish a long way above the Crows next year.
Dawson and our Future 1st and 2nd for Melbournes future 1st and Crows future 1st and 2nd
I would take this in a heartbeat. This may be the best deal on offer yet. I think Adelaide will finish bottom 4 next year and are even a candidate for the wooden spoon.
I believe this is what the Swans have asked for rather than what the Crows have offered.
EITHER: Dawson and 12 for 4
OR: Dawson and our Future 1st and 2nd for Melbournes future 1st and Crows future 1st and 2nd
There is no way the Crows do that second deal given our difficult they've been so far. I'd love them to, but no way in the world. Based on this year's ladder, it's worth about pick 5. He's worth it, but they won't do it.
If push comes to shove prefer the Melb's 2022 first and swapping of 1st & 2nd rounders. Giving Dawson and Pick 12 to Adelaide is overs imo. Even if we manage to trade that pick 4 to Richmond for their picks 7 & 15 the net result of our draft wouldn't have improved that much along with losing Dawson. Chance Melbourne & Crows could have below par 2022 seasons (same with us)! Why can't we get a break like Freo with Cerra!!!

I suspect our offer is as much to flush out a reasonable middle ground more than anything - to show we are willing to move a little, but let them move a bit too without losing too much face. I can see future first + a swap of either 1st (or much more likely) 2nd round picks. Yes it still probably undervalues him, but not by too much.
And as others have said, I'm far from sold on the Adelaide 'rebuild' making a lot of progress next year. They were okay this season at times, but still very patchy indeed. Still expect they are a good chance to be bottom 6 next year, perhaps even bottom 4 again.
