We’d need to give draft pick as well as Amartey to get him.

I think a committee of Faunac8, The Bloods, MCS, Ludwig and I’mUnimformed can debate the question of whether my Lobb for Amartey suggestion is embarrassing?
Okey dokey. FWIW: I don't rate Lobb. He's had a couple of good games against us, sure. But he can't stay on the park, kicks less than a goal a game, doesn't like to play ruck, shirks contests and costs a bomb salary wise, and would require us to give up something substantial in draft hand.

I think Amartey has real potential, albeit a way to go. But I'd rather invest time and a far smaller salary in a 22yo who showed - conceding it was only a small sample size - that he has some real tricks both forward and in the ruck, and has some scope to be part of our post-Buddy era, than a 28yo who's never fulfilled his potential, and probably never will.

Obviously my opinion on Lobb is embarrassing according to Stevo.

I wasn’t going to let that smear slide.
So you are trying to compare a 22yo / 7 gam player to a 28 yo/119 gamer that is on on big money and hasn't delivered, for a key forward his best return is 29 goals in 2016.

In his total of 119 games has a total of 107 goals not even one a game, is that the return of a topline forward? Me thinks not.

He's best goal kicking bag is 4 goals.

      Compare this to Sam Reid:

Played 163 games and kicked 165 goals at least one a game, with a best return of 6 in a game.

Rory looks like a Ford GT but performs like a Cortina

May be you should do a little research and not follow the media hype before putting out comments.

There is talk that Sam Mitchell is personally calling other clubs to potentially offload the likes of Tom Mitchell, Jager O'Meara or Chad Wingard to improve their picks.

I agree totally. We have to give opportunities and show faith in younger players like Armetey and McLean. Lobb is not a good option for us in my view. I can see why we would look at Ladhams given his ruck potential but apparently Lobb does not even want to play in the ruck!

PSD is the very reason why we'll have to accept unders. This mornings press gives the chronology so far and it makes me feel uncomfortable with the PSD hanging over our trade.

After the initial niceties, Cows had arranged to get the Dogs pick 17 which we knocked back, that was upped to include some later pick/s of unknown denomination, we knocked that back.

So Cows got involved in the big pick swap, their offer is now Melbourne's 2022 first.

With the PSD in their armoury, there is no way Cows are letting pick 4 go so we either take Dees 2022 first or walk away empty handed.

Having seen the amazing pick swaps that have taken place, Freo and Pies have great draft hands almost from no where, we've missed the opportunity to do an unders deal on the first day or so, pick 23 & Cows 2022 second if it was offered and could have been part of the pick extravaganza of the last few days.

Worried now we're walking away with nothing :-(

I’m clinging to this. The sooner the CCJ deal gets done the better.

Calling out Papley for giving away three umpiring abuse free kicks (including two against the razor) in 2021 is hardly a smear.

Imagine if a fringe player like COR did that. You would be far less tolerant of COR abusing umpires than Papley.

It was a pun my friend, and a crude one at that. Best to move on.

There is something afoot here with JD, just like there was two years ago with the other JD who we offered unders for because we didn’t really want him at that time and had another plan for the draft. Traditionally KB gets deals done quickly, even if they are little unders if he wants it to happen.
Is it possible Dawson’s request for a trade is really a request from his missus and if it falls through at least he can say he tried and she would be happier to stay in Sydney than risk Melbourne or the GC. (Which of course wouldn’t happen in reality). Or is it possible Dawson has said he won’t leave Sydney without the club who made him, getting fair compensation.
Something is definitely afoot. KB doesn’t cut off his nose to spite his face because he KNOWS letting a player go to the draft won’t deter others because, other than ethnically it is the best way to get a player.
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.

I agree TBC. Something's not right. I am reminded of the Papley situation (although he was contracted) where we went through the motions of trading him (at a very high price) with no intention of letting him go.

My instinct (considering Harley's comments here as well) is that plan A is to retain him. I'm just not sure how.

I've also speculated about what changed to all-of-a-sudden make him want to leave and whether that was driven more my his partner (or some other external factor) than him.

I'm buckling up and crossing my fingers that we are right and we are either (a) keeping him or (b) have a trump card to play to get a better price.

Agree. Talk about a mercenary. Over rated individual who tries to reinvent himself by moving clubs. Like the bloke who keeps buying a new set of golf clubs to suit his swing.

Based on Mitchell’s willingness to push Clarko from the building it appears to me that Mitchell wants to push older players who loved Clarko out of the building. Total takeover by Mitchell and Kennett.

Wouldn’t mind another Chad if the draft capital was low and the Hawks wanted to help pay some salary.

                          The club of Chad’s.

He has barely had a kick for the time he has been at Hawthorn. Believes the hype about him too much. Leave well alone

Trade week is a carefully managed PR exercise.

It’s entirely possible that a deal has been done but the AFL, not having any other interesting trades, has requested this been seen to “go to the wire”

It’s been the most uneventful trade period I can remember

Latest offer put to Adelaide by the swans is the future first rounder from Melbourne plus a swap of future first and 2nds between Sydney and Adelaide for Dawson
