    Actually I’m not even a boo-er myself.
But excessive physicality can result in injury/suspension to our guys and that isn’t a good thing for the team. I just wish poor form for Dawson and his club for the duration of his career (actually, the end of time for the Crows).
If it’s perfectly legal, I’m more than fine with it. I can think of nothing better than Heeney drilling his shoulder into the grub’a ribs in a serious tackle, or McLean driving his knee hard into his back in a marking contest, or him getting twisted up as Rowbottom clenches onto him for dear life in the contest.

He dudded us on the way out the door. Screw him.

        Now now

Roo is an a-hole. But BS is right, and deleted his own post earlier reflecting on others.

He occasionally brings left field opinions to this board, but that’s ok done the right way.

I agree. Saying we had nothing to worry about then turning around and not even telling the club about his intentions until he was in quarantine in SA just stink. Sure, one could argue that his manager or the Crows put him up to all this but ultimately this all reflects back on him. He should've just manned up and revealed his intentions in a more respectful way given the significant input our club has had to his career. I'm not going to actively wish harm on him or for failure in his career but if he flops at the Crows either through form or injury, let's just say I won't feel any sympathy for him.

We all just need to get over JD. He is gone now. Not worthy of any further consideration by us. He is not irreplaceable. In fact, we have a lot of options in the areas he tends to play. We have a great young list and some good draft picks. Onwards and upwards. I wonder how he will feel watching our boys lift the Cup at some point in the next few years? His new team are way off contending.

Yes. You are right. In fact. Jordan Dawson was nothing but a list clogger. We stole that 2022 1st round pick off those hapless Crows.

It seems to me that the club has taken that attitude.

                Compare the pair ...

                Exhibit George:

“George is a terrific person and has been a wonderful contributor to our club over the past eight seasons,” Gardiner said.

“He is a great competitor and has been a really consistent player for us over his 120-game career.

“We regard him highly as both a player and person. He has been a very popular and respected player within the four walls of our club.

“While we are disappointed to see him depart, we wish him, Alice and Henry all the very best,” he said.

                (Sydney Swans thank George Hewett)

                Exhibit Jordan:

“We thank Jordan for the contribution he has made to the club over the past six seasons,” he said.

(Swans finalise trade deal for Jordan Dawson)

A pretty telling difference in the public response to the two departures. One warm and compassionate and human; the other the indifference of postured politeness.

I am also against excessive physicality for similar reasons.

I have no problem with booing. It gets the message across adequately.

Another approach is the cheer squad banner, if a useful message can be chosen.

David King said tonight that Dawson may not have the impact at the crows that he had a swans because of the way the two teams play. Swans run in lanes which freed Dawson up with time and space. Crows game plan won’t do that. Also said swans have number of players who can replace him.

Ironically, some Crows fans, all these years later, still complain about Jack Gunston doing the same to them .... without the quarantine bit.

Yes, I thought that was an indicative pursed lips statement by the Swans[emoji3]

Except that the Swans were very obviously talking him up - his value to the club and how much a part of the club he was - right up to the point where the trade became inevitable. I agree with Meg above that the final parting statement has a pursed lips aura to it, but they were clearly trying to make it easy for him to change his mind until it was clear he wasn't going to change his mind.

We can now put all this behind us and start scouring the draft "rankings" churned out by various scribes.

Pick 16 should land in the middle of a good range of player types, do we take best available or go with need, Van Rooyen and Bazzo are impressive KPD from WA who could both still be on the board and there's some quality mids and running defenders too at this pick.

All interesting mulling for the next six weeks as we try and forget about Jordan whats his name :-)

The Swans remain strong across the ground, even after the loss of Dawson. We need to strengthen our key defenders, but have several avenues to accomplish this. Keys going into next season will be the emergence (or not) of Stephens and Gould.

We only have a few older players and already have young players ready to step in and fill the gap, although Franklin is not really a replaceable kind of player. We still should have more young players coming through the draft than those leaving through retirement.

We also need to refocus on player retention so we don't repeat the Dawson situation in the future.
